introspective - an album proper?

#1 Post by daveid »

Whilst we await the inevitable non-release of Integral (expect disappointment and you won't be disappointed) I just wondered whether people thought Introspective should be considered a proper album when in terms of content it more resembles one of the Disco series : 2 new songs / 1 PSB version of a song written for another band/ 1 cover / 2 remixes. Disco 1.5??? :?:

Introspective is usually considered a regular studio album and quite rightly so, in my opinion.

I tend to classify Introspective as a mini album like the Disco series.

I tend to see it as a regular studio album. Not to mention it spawned three of their finest singles.

I remember being slightly disappointed by Introspective when it was first released because I knew most of the songs already (in different versions). PSB consider Introspective a proper album, but you have a good case if you argue otherwise. But what does it matter? I still love Disco (1) after all these years and Introspective is an excellent piece of work, even though it contains recycled songs.

my fave psb album!

PS: the Boys decided it was an album, a studio album precisely.
I don't think it's up to us, as fans, to renegotiate their history, decisions, role of their released items, and so on.I don't think we make them justice in doing so.
better speculate on things to come

Which had the greatest ratio of new material - Introspective or Disco 3?

I love the PSB mini albums like Disco, Introspective and Relentless. Edgy, expirimental stuff. They should do that more often.

I see it as an album in its own right.... their 4th best in fact.

Plus it's one that spawned 2 great singles (Left To My Own Devices and It's Alright).

Yay for Introspective!

Retro. :)

Isn't it interesting that while they consider Introspective a proper album they don't seem to consider Relentless a proper album even though it's longer than an EP and contains all original material.

After doing the B-side database project, I learnt all these definitions
are rubbery and whilst fun to debate, in practice, too hard to define.

The OS lists it as an album. It had 4 singles and 5 B-sides.
And remember the songs are long, giving almost 50 minutes of music.

Q. Was Relentless available separately to Very ?
