When I read the post, I thought, oh no, not again! But I love the original by Elvis -thanks to PSB-, is one romantic ballad that is so tender and melancholic, and Elvis' voice, perfection.

I was already hoping for new PSB version.

In the same way that Julia MacKenzie's Losing My Mind is. Or Andy Williams' Can't Take My Mind Off You....

Me too... Although I find it hard to imagine how the new version should sound like, to be as good as the original. But for PSB it's possible, if I just think of the sound world of "Integral", "She's Madonna" and "The resurrectionist"! 8)

"THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM"

Okay seeing as i made a mistake by posting this thread in the wrong "Discussion" (how i do not know, it is still Pet Shop Boys related) how about talking about the song itself ?

Always on my mind is such a powerful emotional song. Even Neil & Chris managed to make their disco stomper of a version emotional.
Elvis Presley sung every lyric with such emotion debating wheather it was about his divorce or dedicated to his little girl Lisa Marie.
For it to be re released as a single will make me want to buy it even for the great formats that it will be on (again BMG have marketed these re issues with such style). Now we can start a thread on the King himself or just discuss the song itself.
For the latter it would have been better for "Always on my mind to be re released" to have stayed in "Pet Shop Boys Discussion".

Havn't read the thread, but how about a Always on my mind release of all the versions?

How many are there?

You can check out Vikipedia page on Always on my mind. I think there was a relatively recent Techno or Disco release. It is hellislhy bad.
The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

If everyone bought the song digitally a week before the xmas chart it will be no 1 again.

Its only 79p.

Although we will need a more than the PSB fanbase.
