Off to Wembley
Off to Wembley
To (hopefully) see Doncaster Rovers return to the second tier of English football for the first time in 50 years. Let's see Rovers outplay the Weeds United scum (sorry Rob!) for the third time this season, but this time score some goals to make it emphatic!
I'm either going to come back ecstatic or I'm going to be near suicidal. I *really* don't want to have to drive all the way back from London with defeat on my mind, so...
Come on you reds!!!!!!!

Congratulations, Steve. I'm thrilled for Donny and you thoroughly deserved the win. I reckon you'll do well in the Championship and may even be a surprise package like Bristol City were - not many teams will relish coming to the Keepmoat.
I wish Southend had a keeper as commanding as Neil Sullivan - he was immense today. I've heard we might be signing Paul Heffernan, by the way. Do you rate him?

Passion, love, sex, money, violence, religion, injustice and death. More on that story later.
Well, justice was served - the better team over the three games won.
So much for all the crowing and abuse we've had to put up with from Leeds fans on our forum. They wonder why no-one likes them, but they should look long and hard in the mirror to find that answer. Today's victory for Rovers might help in their reflection.
Of course, there are some genuine Leeds fans (such as Rob), but far too many are idiots. I dared to turn towards them whilst celebrating on the final whistle only to be greeted with one knuckle dragger threatening to kill me after the game.
Learn some humility, learn some respect and don't go on about how you're better than everyone else when you're clearly not else you might be stuck there for a while like Forest were.
As I said, I exclude Rob (YFU) from all of the above. He's as genuine as they come and it's a shame they're all not like him! Thanks also to Native for the post above.
And so to the Championship! I don't think we'll have a problem given the football we are more than capable of playing.
COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!

Well done Doncaster.
I'd love to see the 'Dale go up tonight.
What an interesting season. Hull in the top-flight for the first time, Stoke too after years in the wilderness, Doncaster up to the second tier for the first time in 50 years. QoS in their first Scottish Cup Final and now Europe, an FA Cup final between two teams no-one would've predicted, a Scottish side in the UEFA Cup final and two English clubs in the CL final.

As I said to Steve after the match, congrats to Rovers. They deserved it. It's true there are some utter idiots who support my club, especially those gits that sing Munich songs, but there are loads of us decent fans, too.
While I certainly do not believe we currently have a side much better than the others in the division, I must say that being at the semi final at Elland road, with almost 37000 there, and Carlisle not even able to fill the away supporters' quadrant, it did feel very much like we were in the wrong division. Even at the final, Donny couldn't sell all their allocation while Leeds were desperate for more tickets.
The fact remains, though, that football matches aren't won on the strength of who has most fans. Our players played worse than Donny's and hence Rovers deserved to go up. Let's hope we can have a good crack at automatic promotion next year...

Leeds are a very good side at that level but i felt it was more to do with fatigue that they weren't promoted. They must have put an incredible amount of effort into wiping out the 15 point deficit. It had to have taken it's toll.
Certain clubs do seem to have more idiots than others but the main problem is when a club under achieves, or loses more often than they win. Especially the bigger the clubs. The more dissapointed fans there are, the more trouble that will brew (obviously)
To be fair, football violence is nowhere near what it was in the 80's. You wont get rid of all the idiots but the game has gotten rid of most.

I have read so many stories about badly behaved Leeds fans on Sunday it's untrue. People calling a Mum and her 9 year old daughter 'whores', people getting spat at, numerous people getting threatened with violence/death outside the stadium (myself included), one bloke who had his hat nicked at a motorway service station, tried to grab it back and was punched in the head for his trouble - badly enough to need hospital treatment. These stories are all first hand accounts from real people who were targetted, as posted on a Rovers forum, not just made up stuff.
There's also the FA investigation into Leeds fans spitting at Rovers players when they went to collect the trophy. This isn't football support, it's downright thuggery and Leeds would do well to denounce the large idiot contingent, but I doubt they ever will.
I am sure Leeds will be back. Through very dubious means they have thrown off their debt, and as wrong as that might seem they are now well placed to push on. Given their huge fanbase and therefore big money coming into the club they will be able to afford much better players than any other club in L1 next season, so they will go up. I'd put money on it.
As for Rovers, well, the sky is the limit. I've had several people say to me that the way we played on Sunday was good enough for middle to play off position in the Championship, and to be honest, I don't doubt that. The irony is that we played far better than that when we demolished Southend 5-1 a week before. We definitely need a 20 per season striker (Hayter is our top scorer this season with 7 !) and a good start next season. We got off to a n awful start this eason, but if we get a good one next time and play the kind of football that has more often than not been on show these last few months then we'll be fine.
The worry now is how a 15,231 capacity stadium will manage in the Premiership!
