Bought an iPhone 3G.

#1 Post by gregf »

I bought iPhone 3G yesterday. :D
A very impressive piece of technology.
Using it now to enter this post.

Typing is a bit hard at first.

It seems the idea is for carriers to make money out the data charges.
So if you only use the Wi-Fi connection rather than 3G, it is cost justifiable.

Now that I have pictures I am editing my music playlists so
the cover art is from say, the single rather than a FL edition.

16gb white iPhone , telstra $30/month plan.

Holy $#!+ batman, that guy is down on iPhone.
Look, he may be right, but I am not that serious ; made me

I have invested a lot of time sorting my PSB MP3s in iTunes.
I have about 30 PSB playlists for what ever my mood (that could be a thread itself).
So Apple has me that way.

Funny thing is I have Nokia shares.
If only A... knew the irony of when he calls me a commie.

I've yet to meet anyone who has an i-Phone. However, I know two owners of the X70.

Why would I wanna own a phone that costs as much as a computerß I'm not very keen on a phone that requires both hands to operate it and that I cannot operate blindly.

What always peeves me about apple is that it's design over function and the usurious prices they charge. there isn't even a right-click mouse button on apple comps! and why would the charge so much more for computers that now use the same intel chips as pc's? i worked on apples and they tend to crash, too. i guess owning an apple makes you feel a bit like rising above the ruck.

Function drives their design. Design isn't just about making things look pretty.

The mouse that is included with Macs has 2 buttons, a scroll wheel, and buttons on either side that you squeeze.

There's a lot more to a computer than a chip…

US$200 is pretty cheap for what IS a computer, in your pocket, with full Internet, the real Web and not the shoddy version for cellphones.

They take care with (beautiful) design, and the function is pretty damned superb. As said above, you can have all the right-click you want on a Mac.

I can honestly say that I have not had a Mac crash in the past 8 years, since OS X.
Get out of the 90's.

iPhone isn't perfect, but it's a damned marvellous device. The worst part is being tied to AT&T's terrible network in the US, but that won't be forever- and on WiFi, it is superfast, a pocket Mac with full Internet, wherever you go.
Greg, enjoy it.

To be honest I am holding onto my Siemens SXG75 for the time being, but if I were to update then the new iPhone would be where I'd be looking.

I like to be a bit different hence the SXG75 - a good phone from a (now defunct) small player in the market, and one that wasn't even sold in the UK! ( ;) ), so there's no way I could go with something from Nokia etc...
