LBB --- at least Paulo didn't choose Hasslehoff   The car was cute! and had a warped sense of humor too!

Charles Bronson still gets a vote from me! -

RIP Paul Newman then. Probably the most famous blue eyes boy after Sinatra.

My thoughts go out to his son Gary.

well you can see Deniro and Pacino together in a GREAT action film called "heat".
Pacino as a detective and Deniro as the head of a team of professional bank robbers.

I like Deniro's line in the movie about how one has to be when one is a professional criminal.

never have anything in your life that you cant walk out on in 5 seconds flat if you see the police coming.

Someone forgot George Clooney  , NOT! Seriously, you should've included Marlon Brando, but my fav is Jack Nicholson, adorable.

I saw such terrible reviews for it, that I have now filed that movie in my "wait till it comes out on video" folder.

Can I just say how moved I was to see on the BBC's website, 50 pages of commenters from every corner of the globe, and i mean EVERY corner, speaking of Paul Newman's beauty and magnetism, what it meant to them, what a deeply decent guy he was.

THAT is a movie star, on a global level, the real deal, the sort they don't make anymore. We Yanks don't have much occasion to feel proud lately, but I'm damned proud of Paul Newman as an unapologetic progressive liberal, a guy who raised $200 million for charity, started camps for sick kids, loved his wife, never backed down from bullies.

Kind, decent, incredibly beautiful, a great actor and a damned good guy. What a star, what a life of helping others.

Greatest male movie star is different form greatest male actor so i'd have to say Harrison Ford. Surprised he's not mentioned cos it's no contest really.

So moved that you felt the need to copy and paste exactly the same text in another thread. Wow.

Exactly, which is why Brando or the likes of Hoffman, Olivier, Richardson or Guinness aren't mentioned.

In many ways, Ford I would class as an actor rather a movie star. He's intensely private, doesn't do the celeb circuit, isn't glamorous or classically handsome, and he's only had one Oscar nomination for Witness.

Ray Winstone kind of got it right when he described Ford as "the most normal of guys He's just a farmer from Wisconsin."

so many wonderful traits and you still wouldn't consider him the greatest male movie star of all time? He is han solo, he is indiana jones, he is jack ryan, he is the president of the usa. Not many actors have portrayed so many iconic figures!!
