Goodness, I just noticed this for the 1st time today, too. I think I was too distracted over seeing Drico as a Moderator to have taken proper notice. Well, now I'm up to speed.
Glad to hear that Steve's (hopefully) on the mend & will be home soon.
In the meantime ....

Re: StevePSB is in hospital
Wow, thanks for all the messages! I'm touched by them and appreciate them all.
Two Thursday's ago my leg went from slightly painful to not being able to walk at all within about three hours. I got home (just) and ended up having to go into A&E at my local hospital that night where I was in so much pain (constant, no escape pain with shooting pains for good measure) that it literally brought me to tears.
I was finally seen after about two and a half hours of waiting around in agony, was given painkillers and duly admitted to the hospital given the worrying swelling on my knee.
I spent the next two days with a raging fever (with a temperature of 39.3 at one point), on a drip and being pumped full of antibiotics.
I pretty much insisted that I was transferred to the specialist orthopaedic hospital that has always dealt with my leg, and on the Sunday I was transferred. Last Monday I had an operation to wash out the infection and I have been in hospital on constant antibiotics until tonight when they let me out. It was a very close run thing as to whether they'd let me out or not and I have to keep a very close eye on things until the 6th of January when I am to go back to outpatients for a check up.
In the mean time I am pretty much house bound again as the wound is still leaking, especially so when I am stood up or walking around. I sincerely hope that all goes well between now and my appointment because if it doesn't I am straight back in to hospital and next time I suspect they'll want to take out my prosthesis, and that will involve lots of pain, two big operations by the time it is fixed and lots of time off work which ordinarily wouldn't be a bad thing but the company I work for don't pay sick pay.
Fingers crossed.
Thanks again for all the messages, they certainly help lift the spirits after some very dark and worrying days.

Take care Steve. I had to spend a couple of days in hospital recently myself (broken arm).
