Yellowstone supervolcano

#1 Post by whateverman42 »

Has anyone heard of this? Apparently the entire Yellowstone park is sitting on top of a volcano, and if it erupts, which it does every 600,000 years or so, its possible extinction in the form of a nuclear winter. We're also overdue apparently. Now, just this last week there's been a load of 'not normal' earthquakes there, and the ground has swelled dramatically in less than a decade. Man, I wonder how we've lasted through so many civilizations when just our generation has had so many doomsday possibilities, be it asteroids, nuclear war, y2k, and this 2012 fervor. This sounds pretty real though, a possibility, but I'm just going to ignore it to avoid being 'one of those'.

When GB win all the gold medals at the London Olympics, it knocks the earth off it's axis and causes us all the spin wildly into the sun !

I think whateverman42 is referring to the Mayan 2012 prophecy.

If the Mayans were so good at prophecies, they should have predicted the arrival of the conquistadors so they could've been better prepared for them. Would you trust a prophecy of the people who couldn't even forecast their own demise? ;)

The BBC and the Discovery Channel co-produced a docu-drama in 2000, which dealt with the eruption of Yellowstone. Big mess if it blows.

As for the 2012 Mayan prophecy, I think that's a load of bollocks.

I dont know much about history but I would wonder if the mayan calender came to a end simply because all the mayans got stabbed, burned and beaten to death before they could come up with the new edition.
