Eurythmics Savage

Recently I found out there is a VHS of the Eurythmics album ‘Savage’. Since I don’t have a vhs-recorder anymore, I was wondering whether there is someone who knows if it is available on dvd, or a fan transferred the vhs to dvd. And, off course I ask here first because this album’s got some songs that sound very PSB-ish, so there will be some Eurythmics fans here too

It's a fantastic album, with some really great videos- I believe they made a video for every song- and it HAS to come out on DVD at some point, I'm pretty confident it will.
The segue from "Beethoven" to "I Need a Man" was especially inspired.

My favorite track was the sleek, brief, almost lyric-free, "Heaven".

Savage is a weird album! I first heard it when I saw the video clips. The paper said it was going to be a "live concert" with Eurythmics, so I recorded it on VHS as I couldn't see it when it was broadcast. When I watched it, it was far from being a concert! Instead there were strange songs performed as video clips. They didn't sound like the Eurythmics songs I knew. I remember that the song I liked best was "Shame". I might add that "Beethoven" and "I need a man" were missing from the recording I had made, so I didn't hear those songs until I bought the album on cassette. "You have placed a chill in my heart" and "I need a man" are the two best songs (no surprise they turned up on "Greatest Hits"), and I also like "Shame", "Savage" and "I need you". The rest of the album is rather weird although I like it. It's an interesting and unusual album, but it's a grower!

Savage is definitely the best thing the Eurythmics ever did (apart from maybe the sublime There Must be an Angel...)

I still remember getting the Savage VHS for a birthday as a teenager and being blown away. Loved the manic hoovering in Beethoven.....

There was a live version of You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart on the B-sides of one of their other 12'' singles in this era (cant remember which one) but Annie's vocal was amazing...!

"Beethoven" is brilliant but completely mad! Great video as well!

"Savage" was indeed a fantastic album. It is also probably the most shining example of huge band commiting commercial suicide that I have ever seen. People were expecting "Revenge"-style guitardriven pop hits, and instead they were treated to experimental synth-pop. So, while I personally love the album for its uniqueness, it was hardly a clever release from a commercial point of view.

It's probably less wierd than their Sweet Dreams album though, which sold a lot more. Part of the reason it didn't do so well is because they didn't promote it as much as their previous albums.

We Too Are One is probably more the kind of album people were expecting after Revenge, and it was a big hit, at least in the UK. It's not as interesting as their earlier albums, but I think it's underrated and a lot better than Peace.

I love the 1984 soundtrack too.
