Oscars!!!

Surprising there's no thread about it here! :?

The movie Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Oscars!!!! :)
Though its based in India, i havent seen the movie yet :s will give it a watch soon :)

ARR Rahman won 2 oscars for music... though i dont think this is his best work, i'd recommend people listen to his music from 1993-1995.. some of his best were from that period..

SPOILER ALERT !!!


I went to see the film last night.

I'd heard it was a "feel good" type of film, so went there expecting a nice uplifting storyline ....

What we had was a film that had murder, rape, kidnapping, graphic child torture and mutilation, theft and corruption. :shock: If I were the Indian Tourist Board I'd be going mental ! On the strength of what I saw, it certainly wouldn't inspire me to visit there in the near future ! :lol:

Mind you, what do you expect from Danny Boyle, Trainspotting didn't really show Edinburgh in a good light either ..... :P

Good film though.

that movie is next on the list of movies I call "movies I'm getting forced to go see".
but I hear its good. everytime I see a movie I dont want to see I end up liking it though. I didnt want to see Juno but I ended up loving that one.

some reviews said this years oscars had alot of embarresing moments but I usually never watch those shows so I wouldnt know.

I haven't seen the film but the Oscars are a load of rubbish. Hitchcock never won and yet something as awful as Titanic swept the board. Did Kate Winslet start crying again? :sick:

Slumdog Millionaire is fantastic. Best watched with no preconceptions.

I agree wholeheartedly.

With this, and the Jade Goody circus, I'm avoiding the news like mad at the moment.

oh BTW there has been much criticism of SDM that it shows India in bad light.. People, do watch it as a "movie" :)

@redsock: havent watched Trainspotting.. will do.. heard its very good..

Trainspotting really is an excellent film with a fantastic soundtrack.

I remember managing to get all of the promo posters for Trainspotting, the ones featuring all the cast individually. Gave them to a mate who really wanted them. Wish i'd kept them as I'm sure they're quite collectable now.

I remember they never made a Tommy / Kevin McKidd one because he was somewhere else on that day. He was gutted. :lol:

I got kinda teary watching Heath Ledger's family accept his posthumous Oscar for best supporting actor. Such a bittersweet moment.

And of course, Hugh Jackman as the host. Aussie-Aussie-Aussie-Oi-Oi-Oi!! :clap:
And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...
