Re: CENTRAL ERASURE TOPICS
First the UK chart rules:
4.9 "Multiple pack albums or Box Sets featuring different album titles are eligible for the chart in their own right. They will not be combined with the sales of one of their constituent items."
I'd imagine most fans would go for the The Deluxe box which (if I understand the chart rules correctly) would not be chart eligible along with the normal Total Pop! package, which again would affect the chart placing for Total Pop! Someone correct me if my interpretation of chart rules is wrong.

You are right but thats actually bad news. The Deluxe edition failed to get into the top 100, so that has sold very poorly. So even if it was combined, the chart placing would probably not have changed.tuff enuff wrote:First the UK chart rules:

I disagree with what you've typed here to such a large degree that I refuse to even waste my time reiterating my point. To be perfectly honest, I'm starting to think that you and I have completely different ears to the point of actually hearing things differently.Undertaker wrote:Sorry but no. Erasure's last decade of music has sounded tinny and cheap. Their recent poor sales confirm that. Mute aren't backing them because they cannot afford to. The quality doesn't just come from the studio at all. Vince needs some help in writing melodies because he;s run out of idea's and he's hardly going to get that from Andy Bell! They need a producer who knows what he's doing and the producer also needs some decent work to go on.
As for your comparision with U2 ;- Well most on here don't like U2. That doesn't mean it's shit music. It can't be because millions buy it. It's just not our cup of tea. It's like saying Constables Haywain is crap. You might not like art but it doesn't mean a painting is crap.
Erasures input over the past 10+ years has been poor imo. Hardly any decent lyrics. No decent production. Poor songwriting and same old, same old.

So, you being a chart specialist, I have a question for you: How many ca. copies do you have to sell these days to get at least to place 100?Undertaker wrote:You are right but thats actually bad news. I like Erasure and booklets with cds but £36 for a DVD of Andy prancing around on stage and a bonus live cd?Undertaker wrote:The Deluxe edition failed to get into the top 100, so that has sold very poorly.
Only for the hardcore fanbase like mistermig, s t e p h a n o, homer1972 and erm, Undertaker.

I'm sure there is a school for the deaf and hard of hearing somewhere near you, for you to enrol in.pulse wrote: I disagree with what you've typed here to such a large degree that I refuse to even waste my time reiterating my point. I don't know if I agree with this. Westlife have nearly had more UK Number 1s than anyone else remember. And Robson and Jerome kept The Beatles' (admittedly feeble) "comeback" single Free as A Bird off the top spot. I don't think Bono is on a par with John Constable just because he's sold a lot of records. I genuinely find their songs to be melodically lacking .Undertaker wrote: As for your comparision with U2 ;- Well most on here don't like U2. That doesn't mean it's shit music. Thats a fair point. Although i don't really like U2 , they have released some great albums in the past and they do write their own stuff etc etc. Acts like Westlife don't deserve to mentioned in music topics.DJ_Couture wrote: I don't know if I agree with this. Usually around 500 - 1,000 will get you inside the top 100. Maybe 2,000 if it's week when sales are strong.tuff enuff wrote:

I was wrong about Robson and Jerome keeping The Beatles off the top by the way, it was actually Jacko's Earth Song. Better or even worse?

Ive loved some of the last few Erasure releases but you seem obsessed with sales or chart placement! So you don't like U2 but they sell well so can't be shit? Doesn't make sense!
Erasure have done OK chart wise. Yes I know that PSB have done better but like I have said before, they have hardly set the world alight with sales or chart placings so does that mean that maybe they can be shit too like Erasure or are they in the "just above the limit of being shit" bracket?!
Sorry but it is clear to me that you do not listen to Erasure to enjoy the music, you are searching for something that does not exist, I just hope you don't do too much of the same with PSB! You may find you will not like them anymore if you do.

Well yeah, i did actaully write it but thanks for clarifying it anywayJSDOUVRES wrote: In your opinion!
You are mistaking being 'shit' with 'not liking' something.JSDOUVRES wrote: Ive loved some of the last few Erasure releases but you seem obsessed with sales or chart placement! So you don't like U2 but they sell well so can't be shit? Doesn't make sense!
.
I don't like U2 but you can hardly call them shit with the career and albums they put out in the 80's and 90's. I'm not keen on a lot of stuff they do. I find classical music boring and uninspiring but i'd never call it crap.
When i hear something cheap, tinny and half hearted from a band who produce my favourite kind of music, then i'm in more of a position to say that it's poor. IMO of course

Re: CENTRAL ERASURE TOPICS
I don't like u2 at all but but I am supposed to accept they are great because of what they did in the 80's or 90's? Ill pass on that one thanks!
As for this cheap, tinny and half hearted statement, well I have no idea what you are talking about, I have loved their last few albums in which they have kept to what they are good at ie Electronic pop music, I don't really know what you are looking for to be honest but Girls Aloud, The Saturdays or maybe even the recent Spice Girls greatest hits cd's might be the kind of music you are best suited to now, although generally I find all 3 bands a bit shit.
