B-Sides

#1 Post by Vince »

Hi..

Just wondering, are there any B-Side compilations (a la Alternative)that you guys would recommend?

I'm asking your opinions as Hi-NRG, electro, techno, dance, disco, pop, orchestral music fans ;)

TIA!

Suede's Sci-Fi Lullabies is probably the best one I've got.

The Cure's - Join The Dots B-Sides & Rarities 1978-1987 is awesome, 4xCD of all their lovely early b-sides.

I would suggest REM's B-Sides Automatic Box if you can find it...It is a wonderful compilation of rare songs and b-sides. Marvellous stuff.

New Order's Substance. Moby's albums Play and 18 came in special editions with b-side discs that are hard to find, but the songs are stunning. More simple, but just as beautiful. U2's Best of 1990-2000 special edition with b-sides is mostly mixes, but they're all pretty good. The Salome mix in particular is the danciest thing they've ever done. And The Killers Sawdust.

Kent: B-sidor 95-00
(There is no follow-up, although all the latter b-sides is included as bonus tracks for their box set.)

Suede: Sci-Fi Lullabies
(I've made my own single disc out of it, called "Hi-Fi Lullabies".)

I've got that one too! It's not brilliant, but worth having. I don't even have many regular OMD albums: only Dazzle Ships, Best of OMD (that one is awesome though!), Sugar Tax and Universal. Maybe unusual to get a B-side compilation without having everything else...

(Of course I have listened to most of it, you know what I mean...)
