Joyce Sims-Any fans here?

#1 Post by VinnyM227 »

A year or two ago, I started listening to Pandora. Didn't really stick since I'm done with school and usually had it on while writing. During this time, I discovered some really great artists, including Joyce Sims, although I had heard two of her songs, "All and All" and "Come Into My Life" on Sirius radio (on two different channels...the disco channel played the freestyle "All And All" while the real R&B station played the quiet storm-esque ballad "Come Into My Life"). I found the album with these two songs (titled "Come Into My Life") on vinyl for two dollars. It is so good. Excellent production. Great blending of styles. It's kind of raw but also funky and poppy. Sims vocals are really emotional and strong.

I noticed her songs tended to be do better on the UK charts. Any fans here? I sure hope so. Thanks in advance.

Glad to see some Joyce fans here. I really love "Come Into My Life". I think I might start looking for the 12" singles, too. I heard there is a softer version of "Lifetime Love". That might be good. Any opinions on her follow up? Didn't hear much about it.

Oh yeah!

I had the pleasure of requesting Kurtis Mantronik himself (the leader of Mantronix who produced of Come Into My Life) to play the track at the Back to New York evening - he didn't need much persuasion! The same evening saw PSB vs New order on the decks in another room! What a night

Had the 12" of "Come Into My Life" when it was new. Sorrily, it went with all my other vinyl singles- PSB, New Order, often UK imports bought when they were released- to God knows where. Yes I hate me, too.

"Come Into.." still sounds great, it holds up well.
