Re: I need to vent...
I don't think a functioning society has yet been built in which an elite doesn't control the masses. It's just a question of the degree of control and the degree of openness with which said control is exercised...
We are star stuff which has taken its destiny into its own hands. The loom of time and space works the most astonishing transformations of matter. We are a way for the universe to know itself.

Well said YFU. But it seems you're called a nut when you try to get into specifics; such as how they're exercising that control and the effects of it. People react to these 'conspiracies' as though all of recorded history is something different. As though all the problems in society could be fixed if their party was in power and more money was put into education. People just don't see the root cause of all these symptoms, and they're left arguing insignificant issues they've been programmed to.
You can't argue about education, the environment, health care etc. until you have your house in order; that is, a government by and for the people alone. Until then, the game is rigged, and things won't be fixed.
You know, its popular to declare the government of any country is corrupt. But they've cleverly manipulated society into rejecting any and all reasoning for that corruption. We know deep down that something is dreadfully wrong, and as a result have a vague idea about the reason for that, but we're told that its unavoidable and something to accept. And that government would never cross the line and hurt its own citizens for more money and control. Again, as though history tells a different story.
A tea party on Sept. 11 had between 1-2 million protestors storm Washington, making it the biggest demonstration in US history, ahead of even MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech. All the major media outlets reported it being in the tens of thousands. Two why's: Why are people so angry? Why was it stifled in the news? The answers may lead to truth.

government by and for the people alone
is this even possible? as far as the 9/11 tea party, lets remember what happens in our country when we stop having government regulation. State bank currency issues 1800ish-1860 with the collapse in 1837 due to Mr. Jackson, Savings and Loan crisis of 1991, oh and, hmm....1929.....and, hmm...I could go on. Even a corrupt government can sometimes help us keep things in order. Libertarianism doesn't even exist. It's not possible. It's right back to brustish and nasty.

Not so well lately and sorry I missed this discussion.
Let me say, some very good writing here, a credit to the community.
I also agree that education is one of the best answers. We know the problems
but when you look at feasible answers, funding education is high on the list.
The priests in ancient Egypt wanted to limit education to keep their jobs
as priests and scribes for their children. When conservative parties cut
back on public education today, it just shows that human nature has not changed.
I believe all large countries are inward looking because large countries have a rich
and varied culture. People from Russia and China are a little bit the same as Americans in this regard.
But yes the average US citizen's lack of worldly knowledge has worried the rest of
us for some time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJuNgBkloFE
Hoping the Barack Obama's presidency can change America.

Christ. Whateverman, you're just full of shit. There may have been 60,000 bitter aging fat white people waving horrendously racist misspelled signs. In no universe of science fiction were there two million- an utterly preposterous lie promoted by the right wing. They even pasted in photos of the Inauguration and claimed it was a pathetic Teabagger jerkoff.
Lie, lie lie. Christ, the most right-wing Canadian ever is also a Pet Shop Boys fan who hates the idea of accessible health care in a country not his own. Go figure.

That video is a supurb example of what I'm talking about. I always felt strange watching that skit "Jay Walking" on Leno because I thought, hey, the people in the audience are probably no smarter than the average man on the street.

Re: I need to vent...
I don't think Obama can change anything, as the last president who tried to was shot. It doesn't help that Obama is pure Wall St., and was hand-selected to put a modern image on an old idea. He's as bad as Bush, the only difference being a massive hype machine employed to brand Obama as Change, using the news and media in an incestuous relationship. It helps to realize how the entire TV programming is utterly concentrated into a small number of hands. They promote what helps them. Do you honestly think they love Obama because he's 'cool'? He's corrupt, he's furthering their agenda, he even secretely attended Bilderberg when he was campaigning in 2008.

Re: I need to vent...
I see the anger at these townhall meetings and all that, and I actually buy Obamas point about it being a sort of over reaction to big change.
us americans are a funny bunch. we will happily ride straight down into hell via a bad system, as long as its an american system, rather than take a chance on something positive if it comes with any baggage as being from outside our borders.
sometimes pride can be a barrier to a change for the better.
I'm curious to see what he does. we should let him try.what we've been doing isnt working.

Reagan?
So you are saying Obama can't change things because he might get shot? What are your specifics on why he is as bad as Bush? In what way was he hand selected and in what way is he "Wall St"? I don't think Obama is perfect. Hell, he seems to believe in Jesus, and for me, that shows you lack some basic rational skills (I DO NOT mean for this to go into a religious discussion, I understand many many people believe in Jesus). But what you said is just a bunch of vague statements...tell us what is so awful.

Re: I need to vent...
Haha I forgot about Reagan. But I meant that if a president starts threatening the establishment, they now know there will be repercussions. Kennedy wanted to dismantle the CIA, exit Vietnam, and eliminate the Federal Reserve. He was killed by a 'lone nut'. None since heave threatened in such a way, and have been safely guarded (save Reagan
).
I can't find the information right now, but Obama's staff is the highest concentration of Wall St. members than any other administration had before. I'll post a few articles so you see where I'm coming from.

http://www.infowars.com/obama%E2%80%99s-money-cartel/
http://www.infowars.com/obamas-civilian ... ity-force/
But he's like Bush in that he's a puppet. Forget the politicians, they're a distraction from the real people in power. Look up the (illegal) Federal Reserve, which is a big reason this quiet exchange of power was able to take place.

I think you must be forgetting about Johnson and his Great Society as well. I wonder why he wasn't killed?
I don't buy the conspiracy stuff. "Quiet exchange of power". I know quite a bit about the legal Federal Reserve. And it's a system very flawed, but better than pre-1913.

Re: I need to vent...
Johnson organised the murder of at least 7 people including his own sister who
while drunk, foolishly threatened to talk about his corruption. It is thought he
ordered the murder of up to 15 people. He was due to be brought before the
senate on corruption charges on 23nd November 1963.

Re: I need to vent...
Fair enough, but this isn't exactly a paper, I just popped a few relevant articles in there for you to get an impression. I could get a bunch of sources, but that requires work, and I'm not necessarily out to convince anyone. Its also easy to say you don't buy into conspiracies, but what is conspiratorial about all of recorded history? Where governments have been nothing but devices used by the elites to gain more money and control? Govenment has been, and continues to be, the #1 cause of unnatural death. How have they convinced us so thoroughly that we're divorced from history and reality? Where the super-wealthy 'care' about the poor, and would never kill in the name of tighter control. While I don't fully buy specific conspiracies, there are enough worthwhile questions that are being ignored, or being too easily dismissed for my liking, which makes me suspicious.

Obama's only President because he's black. All the dumb blacks and Hispanics who voted for him would have voted for Mr. T because he's black. OMG!!!!! THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE BECAUSE MR. T IS BLACK AND HE'S THE PRESIDENT!!!!! WOW!!!!! HOLY OPRAH WINFREY!!!!!
The funniest thing was seeing all the dumbasses in the UK partying like it was 1999 just because America had elected a black President.
