Ebay

#1 Post by York Minster »

Does anyone sell on ebay. I'm so sick of ebay's policies that favor the buyers. Sellers can't leave feedback. Paypal fees. Makes me angry.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'

Yes, I have several times before. I made quite a bit of money selling some dvds..it's annoying though because it doesnt let you charge p&p...I had to put zero...then it comes out of my money! And it can cost alot to send depending on where it's going...certainly not worth it if you've only sold something for about a quid...it'll cost you more then that to send it..

Sellers can leave feedback cant they? To say they've received payment...I have before...

I buy stuff off ebay too sometimes...recently got a book I needed for my accounting module, for £28 when on amazon and in the university bookshop its £40! So I saved a bit of money at least, and apparantly its barely been used..
I tend to use amazon more because I can't be bothered bidding on things for several days when there's the chance i'll not win.

You could try ioffer.com for an auction site. They also sell a lot of fake items, pirated etc.

Sorry I meant to say sellers can't leave NEGATIVE feedback. You can put a price for shipping and handling. I'm not sure why you weren't able to?

You have to offer free shipping with DVDs now. EBay's rationale is that as all the major players offer free shipping (HMV, Play etc) as a matter of course then eBay users should too.

I don't really have any major complaints about eBay. It is what it is. You get access to an unrivalled customer base, and you get to keep 85% of your money after eBay and PayPal fees are stripped out.

I know nothing of this. In a random search of one page I found many that had many dollar shipping.

For me, since I offer free shipping and sell cheep items, it's closer to 55 percent.

And from next week, you have to offer free shipping on lots more things too... eBay has definitely shot themselves in the foot here.

How does that work out then... do you not factor the shipping cost into your prices?

HOLY SHEEET! I think this might be a UK only thing, but holy fuzuk. Isn't this illegal to force sellers to ship "free". Ebay, tisk tisk, so many bad decisions. Look at how many more items are up on ebay in 2009 versus just a few years ago and you will see why ebay favors the buyer.

My items go for what they sell for, and I make a small profit.
