No, it's not. It's no different from "Rage Against The Machine for Xmas number 1", or the "Rick-Roll" campaign.

This looks like it's going to be an ongoing trend. A few have tried it in the past. Marillion did it with a bit of sucess and they tried it on the Erasure forum with Always, which was a complete disaster.
Didn't know this though ;- If you get the song 5 times into your shopping cart from the same shop, it will only count as ONE SALE and you will have wasted your money.
So what happens if you buy two physicals from the same shop? I bought 2 copies of Christmas from record store. Thats why it wasn't number 1

Which I didn't participate in any more than the XFactor.Fugitive1979 wrote:No, it's not. It's no different from "Rage Against The Machine for Xmas number 1", or the "Rick-Roll" campaign.
What this does is create publicity and people buying records just because 'it must be good if it's No1'. If it's good, it'll reach No1 without cheating the stats. The charts are not a reflection of what people like if this is done. I want to hear music I like, not people that are shameless, flouting the system with image and how they act...
Bet Tchaikovsky didn't do this...
This bit annoys me:
>In May 2009, Girls Aloud's 21st single 'Untouchable' failed to enter the UK Top 10, peaking at #11. Untill then, the group had managed to get all of their previous singles into the top 10, holding the record for the most consecutive top 10 singles by any girlband. This single however, broke that run. The objective is to get Untouchable into the top 10...
Tough! Get over it. So you're not in the Top 10.
You gotta have fun!

Not only C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G but also G-R-E-E-D-Y.
There are going to be lots of times when they fail to get to number one - and anyway, I can't see the band even lasting much longer. One has relocated to the US and working on her solo album, the other has become Britain's princess. Cheyl Cole is bigger than Girls Aloud ever were.

Let's not forget that any fans of any group can and have done this so it is not necessarily cheating but is just sad I suppose. For fans of Girls Aloud it is just a bit of a laugh more than anything else and it will be them that are physically paying for the track at the end of the day. And I am sure fans of the PSB have done this kind of thing before although Undertaker will always point out that Erasure have of course. In a way isn't a group offering signed copies or promo cd's to the first X number of people to buy their new single also cheating in a way? Especially seeing that a number of "greedy" people even ordered multiple copies to get more than one signed or promo? I reckon that if it wasn't for that then PSB would not have had a number 40 single, and it is probably true.

Holy shit Dourvres, you have become obsessed and defensive everytime Erasure are mentioned, even though there is no malice in the post. The two examples i pointed out, were the two i definatly knew of. If i had more concrete examples, i'd have mentioned them as well.JSDOUVRES wrote:Let's not forget that any fans of any group can and have done this so it is not necessarily cheating but is just sad I suppose. I cannot recall PSB fans embarking on such a project, although i do agree with you on one thing ;- It is very sad.
Stop thinking every post is a dig at Erasure. Is there something in the water at Erasure towers? Dare to mention anything that hasn't worked and you all behave like Attila the Hun on Valium. It wasn't a pop, just a example of how such projects tend to fall flat.

Holy shit Undertaker, you have become obsessed and critical every time there is something you can have a go at Erasure about, even though there is no need whatsoever to do it.
Stop thinking everytime there is something bad to say about something you have to mention Erasure, Is there something in the water at Undertaker towers?
Do you not see the PSB offer as being as a ploy to sell more copies? Do you think the single would have got to number 40 without that offer? fair to say that even that project "fell flat" with such a poor chart showing. Obviously in your world there does not exist a PSB fan who would have brought multiple copies of a single to try and get it a better chart position, but let's be honest here, it has happened without doubt.
Sorry to say that I have as much right to defend Erasure as you have to constantly mock them, whether you like it or not! Get used to it!

How many different sleeves did Release come in? Five? Six? The only aim was to sell more copies. It's not so very far removed from these fan-organised download campaigns really.
Prick up your ears.

Re: C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G
It's pretty sad that a number eleven hit isn't good enough for them but as Wags Aloud appeal to the stupid, venal and meretricious, not very surprising.
I assume that most of their fans can only count up to ten.

She's basically a cross between Princess Diana and Jade Goody.

I never said you hadn't that right, my friend. Although like i said before, i used the two examples because those were the two i knew of and it was you that was first to put that it was a ''sad thing to do'' yet you are waving your walking stick at me.JSDOUVRES wrote: Do you not see the PSB offer as being as a ploy to sell more copies? Of course PSB have ploys to sell more singles and albums. What act doesn't? What the hell has that got to do with some fans getting together and having a sad little campaign to get a song to chart againHow desperate.
lol and what's your point?JSDOUVRES wrote: Obviously in your world there does not exist a PSB fan who would have brought multiple copies of a single to try and get it a better chart position, but let's be honest here, it has happened without doubt.Of course fans have bought more than 1 copy but i'm failing to see the connection with a group of fans who try to download a song in the same week, just to get back in the charts or better the position, years after it's original release.
If some fans on here got together and started some campaign to get Was It Worth It? in the top 20, i'd say that was sad as well.
