The funny thing about it - for Germans - might be that the word vuvuzela
sounds rather similar to Uwe Seeler.

Maradona looks like a serial killer.
If the Argies play like they have done in the first 10 minutes, they will win the World Cup. Messi is unplayable. You just have to hope he plays crap.

Veron has had a very good game too. I always love the way Argentina play (erm, apart from in 1990
); they've got a European spine coupled with South American flair.
I want to see Messi running at 'JT'.

I'll quote myself instead of typing it all out again. Although if King isn't fit, you will miss Ferdinand. Carragher is too slow.Undertaker wrote:I don't think it's that big a loss. England have ample defenders that are good enough, it's the keeper i'd be concerned with. Green will cost England. Similar if Lampard got injured. I don't think we would miss him in midfield. All he does is lose posession, beit through a poor pass or shooting from 75 yards out. If Rooney get's injured, you may as well come home. I'd give him the armband anyway. It might just mature him that little bit more thats required.
Thought it was a decent performance but a better side will beat England if they play like that. Like i said, the keeper is too unreliable but i doubt he will do that again. Carragher looks like he's treading water. What's happened to him? I stil think Lampard is shit. God knows how Wright Phillips gets a shirt. Other than that, it was alright. Heskey was actually Englands best player and you would expect Rooney and Lennon to raise their game.
For me, it would be either Rooney dropping back behind Heskey and play a striker another striker that will actually get in the box and leave out Lampard, or simply swap Lampard for either Barry or Carrick.
You have to have a goal poacher. Too many crosses went in and no one on the end of them. I can't stand Defoe but England would have beaten USA if he was playing.
You have to be concerned about the keeper and the pace at the back.
Not a bad start but too many concerns at the moment for England to be a threat.

I didn't like that game, England had to win... Of course. Goalkeeper did a mistake, that was odd.

Have you not seen our keepers over the past 5 years? They make a habit of doing that. Not good enough. you have to have a top keeper.Parkol wrote:I didn't like that game, England had to win... Of course. Goalkeeper did a mistake, that was odd.

Yeah, I was shocked he went with Green in the first place. He even looked nervous in the tunnel before the game. England have real problems with their centre-backs too. Terry isn't quick enough for international level and Carragher is garbage these days. He should have taken Dawson instead of King in the first place because his fitness is a complete joke. Even Darren Anderton wasn't as bad as him.
They should still cruise through but against a team like Brazil or Spain they'll struggle at the back.
I'd also have brought Joe Cole on to add some flair. They had four players who bomb forward on the flanks and a lack of creativity.

Anyone watch the England match on ITV HD like me? This is what happened during live play:
Disgraceful, and not the first time they've done that. They then followed that up with a switch to standard definition (intentional? mistake? God knows...) from 40-ish minutes in until the end of the game!
They should be banned from showing live sport.

I feel sorry for Robert Green. It was an appalling mistake - as a goalkeeper in my spare time (it was the poignant isolation and contemplative existentialism that hooked me, naturally), his technique was all wrong. He never got his body behind it. Now he'll be crucified. He won't sleep tonight. Considering the England team is choc-a-bloc with contemptible peasantry, poor old Green would have been far down my list of candidates for public humiliation.
That said, he'll be a handy scapegoat for a lot of players who, frankly, don't do it on the big stage. Still, this was one spill that the Americans could enjoy. Environmentally-friendly, too.
Drico.

In that suit, he reminded me of Mike Bassett, England Manager. Similar tactics, too.Undertaker wrote:Maradona looks like a serial killer.

I think England need to get cloning Peter Shilton...

100% agreed. They are an absolute disgrace. Unfortunately, this will be swept under the carpet and forgotten.StevePSB wrote:Anyone watch the England match on ITV HD like me? This is what happened during live play:
