Those two inparticular, will get the manager the boot if the powers that be aren't strong enough. Both need to be left out indefinately.

There's the difference. Argies have Tevez, we have Rooney. Different class. Pace all over the place. England's only real pace and the ability to beat a man, comes from Lennon. So England leave him out after two average games but the same faces that played crap, are first on the team sheet.

They are crap at the back but might get away with it because they are so good going forward. If Mexico had a decent striker, this could have been a lot closer.

Are there no right backs in England? Johnson has been shocking in this tournament - he should either become a proper winger or give up. Maicon and co. get forward but they can defend too.

Carlsberg have got to reshoot that ad with Bobby Moore and the lion at the end of the tunnel. Get Carlton Palmer, Peter Reid chasing Maradona, and Tony Adams on his arse as van Basten turns on a sixpence instead.

Sepp Blatter is an absolute wanker. England would probably still have lost but Mexico were giving Argentina a really good game until that "goal." Just use the god-damned technology!

Johnson is a shocking full-back, full stop. Terrific going forward but doesn't have a clue defensively; his positional sense is dire. To think Liverpool paid £18m for him...Trouble is, I'm struggling to think of alternatives. Micah Richards, maybe?

I'm staggered that Alan Hansen thinks Germany are an average side. They arguably have the best midfielder of the World Cup so far in Ozil, who is capable of unlocking any defence, and today proved how clinical they are in the final third, whether attacking or counter-attacking. They're great to watch and they'll certainly be the sternest test yet to Argentina's suspect defence. Can they go further? I don't see why not. History tells us you don't write them off...

Why so down on England? They were absolutely dominant in the last 15 of the 1st and the first 15 of the 2nd. If they tied it the complexion of the game would have changed, as those German goals were the result of necessitated English attack mentality. But as a German fan I'm happy your country is cursed. You're like the Toronto Maple Leafs: you're convinced you're the heart of the sport yet you haven't won since the mid-60's. Its funny.

Those marks are pretty much spot on. Some too generous.

As for right backs, i'm surprised Milner didn't play there and Lennon in front of him. If not Milner, then Carragher.

England could have always set up 3-5-2 but they probably need to go 4-3-3.

Still, David Platt thinks there are no players coming through to challenge those that are already there. Some people really do talk shit.

My God. Let's all open a huge debate on goal line technology just cos England lost out on one goal to it's lack of existence, one goal that wouldve meant nothing anyway due to their totally inept performance. Least the nation have something to maon about instead of just admitting they were rubbish and the germans were younger yet far superior. Redknapp got it right, the germans played the football of today in the holes. England weren't at the races and that goal was wholly irrelevant. Also do the commentators not realise how daft they sound goin on about it when if it hadnt happened theyd hardly raise an eyebrow. If England were still in theyd be laughing about it sayin 'nae luck' in as many words(referring to the 1st argentine goal....i mean calling for the guy who showed it on the screen to be sacked!!??).
