Sometimes I've listened to low quality mp3s around 192 for awhile and I get used to it, but when I go back to CD or headphones it's a huge transition to much better sound. I really resent that Amazon doesn't even encode at 320. I have purchased maybe 10-15 total songs as mp3s in my life, and I don't plan to purchase anymore than I need to.
Perhaps 192kbps was a slight exaggeration, but maybe only a side by side comparison would really point out the differences to me. Listening to an MP3 on it's own on either my hi-fi or in my car (unless it is a really ropey bitrate) I generally don't find anything to complain about. All that having been said, I do now rip my CD's to 320kbps MP3 files. ;)
