Really? He was destroyed for pace by Robben tonight. He's a good defender, no question, but I wouldn't have him as player of the tournament.

That will happen though, if he's up against a whippet. Robben only got in once though and that was due to a good ball. I reckon every player has probably had one average game. I think Puyol has been solid. With him being an old man, he could have been torn to pieces every game.

I'll try and beat you to it. :)

Cassilas (Spain)

Lahm (Germany)
Puyol (Spain)
Mertesacker (Germany)
Michel Bastos (Brazil)

Mueller (Germany)
Sneijder (Holland)
Schweinsteiger (Germany)
Iniesta (Spain)

David Villa (Spain)
Forlan (Uruguay)

Quite a toughie. Didn't think there was an outstanding goalkeeper but Cassilas made a couple of crucial saves tonight and also saved a vital penalty in the quarter final, so went for him. Mesut Osil was really unlucky to miss out but I went for Sneijder as Holland wouldn't have made the final without him.

Spain worthy winners in the end although Germany were my favourite team of the tournament. Probably the most expansive German side I've seen in my lifetime and they played some cracking football.

I think mine would be very similar. Looking at it, it's probably obvious who to pick, although i'd have the German keeper in the sticks. I thought Casillas was dreadful up until the semi's.

I'd also give Loew manager of the tournament and the Italian lad who scored with that chip, goal of the competition.

On a whole, i thought it was a bit dissapointing. Half a dozen exciting games out of a total of 64 is a let down but there were far too many poor games, even though you can understand the approach of some sides. The football itself was appalling. It looked liked they were playing with an impossiball at times. no need to tamper with things like that.

It was an awful game, due to an awful referee whistleling the game totally dead.

Congratulations Spain.

Well, the Dutch team did commit a foul approximately every five seconds.

I predicted a Holland win in 90 minutes but the 0-0 scoreline at that point meant i was closest and managed to win the prediction league! yay!

The Dutch are complaining about the refferee. Fair do's, he had a shocker but if anyone should be complaining, it's the Spanish. The Dutch should have had 3 reds for serious foul play. They could have had 5 sent off because Robben should have gone as well for 2 yellow's. He's one of the biggest cheats i've ever seen.

The Dutch were lucky not to be down to 9 at half-time. I thought De Jong had killed Xabi at first and Van Bommel could easily have walked when he went through the back of Iniesta. Robben should have got a second yellow for kicking the ball away. It was like watching Don Revie's Leeds side of the 1970s.
