As much as you make the case against ERASURE, I would suggest that they are, indeed, very similar. They are both pop duos who create ELECTRONIC music. Both groups create upbeat tracks, ballads, mid-tempo, etc. They both have a member of the group who primarily stands by a computer on stage. They are both among the very few electronic pop acts who originated in the 80s that still come out with new albums on a regular basis.

This is like saying that two individuals are similar because they have two eyes a nose and a mouth each.

I am suprised you didn't mention that they each have an out gay lead singer too!

But there is a difference between a song like Secret Life and Suburbia, and that difference is production value.

I don't quite understand that. I'm talking about lyrically and melody. Neil and Chis had obviously listened to Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. A lot.

I'm not really getting the Erasure/PSB connection, apart from two gay lead singers and the electronic duo thing. You may as well say The Communards.

They say in interviews that comparing them to Psb is lazy and music wise they're very different, but I haven't felt so many typical Psb elements in a song/video by any other band before. I'm really looking forward to their debut album.

They may say that, but their PR campaign is around their similarity to PSB. I still get adds popping on on Facbook saying 'If you like PSB, you will like Hurts'.

They're silly trying to deny similarities, there are so many of them, like just a thing like this "...But on a trip to Italy, they discovered "disco-lento" (slow disco), became fixed on a more austere and stylish European aesthetic and Hurts were born" Paninaro uh oh to that!

I loved Dubstar, and I have tried many times to listen to Client and always turn if off after a song or two. It just sounds awful to me.

Most pop music is embarrassing dross unbecoming of sentient human beings. There are other groups and recording artists that I've liked over the years, but nobody has done it quite like the PSBs, nobody has expressed themselves in the fully-realised manner of Tennant and Lowe, and, as a result, nobody else has written anything like the percentage of the soundtrack to my life that they have.

Similar? Nah. Nobody else can even claim to be a shadow of these two. Every wannabe pop duo with a natty line in broody snaps is perceived by some to be similar - but a pastiche is nothing more than a backhanded complement. If it were simply that they were a duo you'd say something, but the PSBs have always been greater than the sum of their parts, their sound, their style, their deadpan but romantic expression of isolation, yearned-for escape, and urbane exploration presented in huge cinematic soundscapes that reflect the metaphorical city that the songs, words and emotions exist in.

Everyone else appears in snowy black and white in comparison to their high definition technicolour.

On the male side... "Lighthouse Family" and recently "Hurts" are the most similar to PSB for me.

Black Room (formerly known as Lorraine) have been compared to PSB.

Another couple of pop acts that are quite PSB-like despite the female vocals are Spray and The Attery Squash.

I was thinkings some of the tracks by johnny hates jazz.while not so much sounding like they could have been written by PSB,they have the sort of same production.
