Has anyone an idea about this problem ;-

I started up itunes today to play an album and there were no songs at all in my library. I looked in my recycle bin and there they all were

I've not pressed anything. Honest.

I've found them all. Everything had been moved to my recycle bin for some reason

maybe your virus scanner got confused.

Hey Unders,

Glen's suggestion is good. A virus check or disk repair of some sort may have moved them.
Check your virus checker log file or log file of any disk repair/cleanup utility.

If a virus checker finds something bad it quarantines the files, but I think it would put them
somewhere other than recycle bin.

A disk repair/cleanup utility will move whole directories if the directory is corrupt.
Is it an old drive or are you have disk read/write problems ?

But being in recycle bin does tend to suggest a delete operation of some sort.

There is help on the net for recovering from these scenarios.

Well it hasn't happened since and i've put all my files back in the right place. Fingers crossed nothing else happens.

Undertaker, did you delete a file or a folder within your itunes library recently. I've found that in Windows 7 sometimes when I want to delete say a folder for some reason it picks the folder within which the folder is so lots more is deleted than the actual folder. Really sucks. I have had to do an undelete using Recuva a few times due to that.

I've not got Windows 7, so it couldn't be that, unless it happens with Vista as well.

One thing i did do was to stop certain programs loading because i couldn't get my phone to sync with my p.c. It might have been that, i dunno but at least i didn't lose the music permanantly.

Are you sure all of your mp3s were moved to the recycle bin or just your extensive Erasure collection? Software programs are very sophisticated these days.

In defense of Erasure and all this bashing i keep reading about , isn't Breath of Life such a wonderful song? So is Blue Savannah. Even if they produced one song on their new album anywhere near that standard, i think i might buy it.

iOS 4.2 is due for release in the next few days (maybe).

For the many people with an iPhone 3G, os4 was a disaster.
The phone ran vey slowly and some customer are suing apple as it did seem to
be a dirty trick to get people to buy an iPhone 4.

Well reports are that 4.2 will run ok on an iPhone 3G.

I kept my 3G on os3 and may try 4.2 but will get a backup and know how to restore to it first.

I am mostly interested in 4.2 as it is the first 4.x for the iPad.
I have had the iPad for several months now and I still love it.
I use it for emails and surfing from the couch with a proportional
decrease in PC usage.

At first like others I wanted local storage like an USB port or SD card.
I have changed my mind. The iPad is about cloud computing and I think
this is the way of the future. A lot of people are watching Google as they
are soon to make Google Docs work natively on the iPad. You will be able
to edit and use word processing and spreadsheets on the iPad and they are
stored on Googles cloud service. No software, no cost, just the browser.

Os 4.2 will also bring printing to network attached printers.

Edit: Nov 13th.
Due to a bug in WiFi connectivity on the iPad, 4.2 has been delayed
and consensus is now for November 22nd.
Fair enough. This is a major update for iPad users and that bug would be a show stopper.
