Am I right in thinking that David Walliams and Matt Lucas can be spotted in the TOTP audience during the Liberation recording, towards the end of the song?

Also, the Wogan performance of So Hard: that's the one that Chris Lowe stormed off-stage from at the end of the song, isn't it?

Yes on both counts. The Wogan flounce seems to have been edited out though, rather tragically!

Are the BBC clips 4:3 full frame (filling the complete screen if you play them on an standard -old- TV), or are they butchered on top and bottom of the image to fit the new 16:9 widescreen LCD format??? I hope they´re in full...it'll be a big disappointment if they're cropped...

I can confirm they are NOT in full frame (shame on who ever put this together) but in anamorphic 16:9 with black bars on the sides, meaning more than 30% of the horizontal resolution is wasted. Unbelieveable. Sure, the image isn't cropped, but the quality is very low thanks to this incredibly stupid treatment - if you watch it on a 4:3 telly, you'll have big black bars on all sides.

Moreover, just like the Pandemonium DVD, my standalone player has problems playing this. Guess I'll have to burn it to 2 DVD-Rs instead (one for the TOTP stuff, one for Glastonbury). Well, I'll probably never watch it anyway...

I just use the 1.5 zoom on my DVD remote and although it shaves off some of the image, it really fills my widescreen to great effect.

As soon as you use the zoom the image quality gets even worse, and me personally would never want to zoom in a 4:3 video just to fill up the full 16:9 screen, but each to his own.

yep. If we had old fashioned square TV's the early TOTP images would have looked like that (without the black lines each side of course)

Not true, you can mix anamorphic 16:9 and full screen 4:3 content (which will also look correct on a 16:9 telly), the DVD author was just too lazy.

Oh ok, good to know. I thought the flag for it was for the whole dvd, didn't know that you could switch back and forth. I guess they took the easy way out and just hard coded everything it for widescreen. At least they didn't crop the 4:3 video and make it 16:9 like they did on youtube for some of the videos.

Despite the name of the tour, I think they cut numbers at some festivals.

Indeed - the two they cut for the 'masses' were the Yes album tracks (Pandemonium and The way it used to be).

As much as Ultimate has left me a little underwhelmed, I have to say the PSB BBC DVD is really something special......

Can't decide what is more powerful....the early performances i.e Opportunities etc, or Glastonbury. So very different, but equally moving.....

I too am only buying it for the DVD and looking forward to watching all the TOTP performances.


But I guess I'm in a minority though when I say I don't really get all the hype about Glastonbury 2010. For me it didn't seem any different from their O2 concert, the latter I'd say was better. I would much have rathered Glastonbury 2000 be put on it (guess it wasn't BBC who broadcast it).

OK. I've watched the Glastonbury performance on the DVD and I get it now. Amazing to see Pandemonium outdoors in front of a more general audience too.
