Pages from German newspaper Der Spiegel were leaked on Sunday, revealing some of the contents of the Wikileaks documents to be released later in the day.

The documents quoted in the leaked article include nicknames for a number of world leaders. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is referred to as "Hitler," French President Nicolas Sarkozy as a "naked emperor," the German Chancellor is called Angela "Teflon" Merkel and Afghan President Hamid Karzai is "driven by paranoia." Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is an "Alpha Male," while President Dmitry Medvedev is "afraid, hesitant."


The documents also say that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il suffers from epilepsy, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddhafi's full-time nurse is a "hot blond," and Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi loves "wild parties."

The article also quotes the State Department as saying that US President Barack Obama "prefers to look East rather than West," and "has no feelings for Europe."

"The US sees the world as a conflict between two superpowers," the documents say. "The European Union plays a secondary role."

yeah the other stuff is coming out, but so far the only one that seems to be pretty crappy for the party involved is that president in yemen who was covering up for US airsrikes.

as far as the bombing of Iran, I am sure the bombing of Iran at someones behest be it america,or israel,or saudi is a tad ho hum. the saudi are pretty down on everyone they consider a threat to themselves.doubt any one in the islamic world will be surprised

It's interesting seeing the way the net is changing the world.

I think an important principle that we should fight for, is that
we should not accept government censorship of the net in any form.

I would like ISPs to provide a voluntary opt in system for DNS blocking
of violence, hate, child porn, etc, sites. It is better that these are possible,
then that governments have the power to say we can not see them.
It is only a short step for governments to then ban sites like WikiLeaks,
or sites that tell the truth about Tiananmin Square.

Fortunately it is very hard to control the net. It is a wild west.
Apparently Kindle readers are selling well in China because Kindles
have there own proxy service that tunnels through the great firewall of China.
The Chinese users can then see our YouTube and Wiki sites.

We have public meetings here where the oldies can go and be taught about
VPN tunneling so that they can get to the euthanasia sites blocked by the government.

the internet is the means but the heart of all this is a bed wetting crybaby in the US military released these classfied documents. he should be shot for treason this isnt some kind of mischievous net hacker.
there are laws against computer crimes and hacking and ID theft yet here on a global level this freak stole and gave classified documents that could put lives in danger in multiple countrys.

I hope the US or someone get something on that creepy looking dude who runs that wikilinks site. give him a little taste of some blowback.

According to those cables Nicolas Sarkozy's advisers were so afraid of sparking his anger that they reportedly diverted his plane to avoid him seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up in the colours of the Turkish flag, according to a confidential note from the US ambassador in Paris.

A confidential memo to the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, from ambassador Charles Rivkin in December 2009, said of Sarkozy: "Elysée contacts have reported to us the great lengths they will go to avoid disagreeing with him or provoking his displeasure – even recently reportedly rerouting the president's plane to avoid his seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up in Turkey's colours on the visit of PM [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan." Paris's Socialist mayor had turned the tower red and white in Erdogan's honour. Sarkozy is fiercely opposed to Turkish membership of the EU.
