Real pics that seem to be fake: photoshop?

Hi there. I just found in the net some pics by the italian photographer Roberto Boccaccino.
They seem to be fake, but they are absolutely real.
Does anyone know how can we reach such a result using photoshop?
I mean: this subjects seem to be toys, or plastic creations, how can he work it out? Is it only the result of "blurring" the pics all around but the center?

Yep, using a prime lens

The effect is called Tilt Shifting

Yeah a tilt-shift lens not a prime lens. What it does is to recreate the shallow depth of field that you get when a normal lens (including your eye) focusses on a miniature scene that is close to you.

It's another example of how your brain can be tricked. You associate a shallow depth of field with small things viewed from close so your eye sees these normal sized objects as models.
