It got crap in the end but in its heyday Only Fools and Horses was a fantastic and populist sitcom which documented the Eighties in much the same way that PSB did. I love Peep Show but it's still very much a comedy which appeals to a certain age group. OFAH was one of the last genuinely mass entertainment programmes that wasn't crap (mostly).

Very sad news. He managed to create an institution in OFAH. It's full of characters that are now household names and always will be.

the last couple of episodes were on today, and still had some funny bits, even if they weren't quite as good. There were some absolute classic episodes, I still watch it when it's on.

At least he had the dignity to stop twitching after he died unlike OFAH which was unceremoniously interred 5 years after the most conclusive finale you could ever get in a programme plus the deaths of two of its regular characters. Oh - I've got an idea! let's make them all broke again and contrive a plot where they end up back in Nelson Mandela House! So the corpse was re-animated, given a few volts of electricity and asked to jump up and down like a tart for a few quick ratings. f*** off!
