...which is true, actually, but the new IKEA advert featuring the classic Jona Lewie record is great. Jona himself features in true Hitchcockian style, in the kitchen (by the sink).

Rather poignantly, here is the original Top of the Pops performance from 1980. A young Kirsty MacColl is one of the backing singers:

Pop 30 years ago was so much more life-affirming than it is now. Speaking of pop, I see Neil and Chris feature as one of the 50 key moments in pop history in this weekend's Guardian. Well, more accurately, their collaboration with Dusty Springfield features. The "classiest" PSB record ever? I don't know. Still, good to see them feature.

This is why pop music is so boring today; it's all one genre. Back then anything could be a hit, you couldn't predict it.
