What has been released on 'defunct' formats?
Would be interested to know what is out there given the range of different releases in different markets in supposedly defunct formats, for instance:
Cassette Single - I can remember Yesterday When I Was Mad
CDV - Two disc Videography
Anything else? And what about DAT for instance? I'm assuming vinyl doesn't count unless it's something highly unusual in a non 7", 10" or 12" version.

I don't think there ever was any commercial DATs released, but I'm quite sure PSB has released both Minidiscs and DCCs. And VHS of course, possible also Beta.

There was a bonus (3 track) mini-disc with the Japanese edition of Behaviour. It was on this mini-disc that the infamous 9 minute version of "This Must be the Place..." was issued.

You mean a 3" CD, totally different to the Minidiscs I meant.

There's no such thing as the 9 min mix. Just ask Neil.Zog wrote:There was a bonus (3 track) mini-disc with the Japanese edition of Behaviour. It was on this mini-disc that the infamous 9 minute version of "This Must be the Place..." was issued.

Cassingles were released up through the Nightlife era. SouthEast Asia still makes cassettes of the albums.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'

That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]

I have the original artwork for the Actually DCC. Was it ever released on that format? I've also got Television on a Japanese format but don't know what it's called! It's like a massive floppy disc

For Western releases, I remember Nightlife being stocked at my local Borders back in 99/00TheGardner wrote:Popart in Indonesia and Thailand, if I remember correctly.Radiophonic wrote:My first ever Pet Shop Boys thing ever was a the Please cassette a work colleague bought me for my 26th birthday. Re: What has been released on 'defunct' formats?
I own that, still sealed. I remember a Philips brochure from the early 90s where all coming-up DCC releases were listed. Actually, Introspective and Behaviour were scheduled for release, but they never hit the market. I don't know why. I also don't know how many of these exist. But after I got hold of my copy, I've never seen it mentioned anywhere.Old Soak wrote:Forgot about DCC's - found this about Introspective released in this format c/w a picture:
