Britain’s most dynamic digital radio station, BBC 6 MUSIC, have once again thrown their support behind the SUMMER SUNDAE WEEKENDER music festival, confirming that they will be transmitting live from the event throughout the weekend. This is the fourth year of the ever-growing festival – previously known as simply Summer Sundae - which takes place over at least four stages in the building and grounds of Leicester’s premier venue, the DE MONTFORT HALL, and this year runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th August.
The festival continues to go from strength to strength. Previous years’ line-ups of the event have seen performances by acts such as LAMBCHOP, CORNERSHOP, GOTAN PROJECT, EMMYLOU HARRIS & THE CONCERT FOR A LANDMINE FREE WORLD, MORCHEEBA, STEREO MCS, CALEXICO, ALABAMA 3, BETH ORTON, LAMB, IAN McCULLOCH, AQUALUNG and DAVID BYRNE. It has also showcased up and coming artists such as PINK GREASE, LONGVIEW, CHUNGKING, and current chart stars KEANE.
This year AIR will close the festival on the Sunday evening, with a headline set on the main outdoor stage. After first coming to prominence with their landmark 1998 debut album ‘Moon Safari’, the Parisian duo returned to the UK charts this year with their top three album, ‘Talkie Walkie’.
MR. SCRUFF's legendary dance extravaganza KEEP IT UNREAL returns for a second year to kick off the festival on Friday 13th August at 9.00pm.
Saturday’s headliners are still to be confirmed, news of which will follow very soon.
The festival also sees a performance from Jazz-tinged urban sensation and Brit nominee AMY WINEHOUSE – whose debut album ‘Frank’ was released to superb reviews last autumn. Up and coming DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS will be winning over new fans with their Dexy’s flavoured indie-soul-punk, Radio 2 Folk Award winner JIM MORAY puts in an appearance on the Sunday, and explosive Clash-flavoured Mexicans LOS DE ABAJO will be burning up the main stage on Saturday. Other acts performing over the weekend include BLUE STATES, THE BELLES, PAUL BURCH, FIONN REGAN and NEW MASTERSOUNDS; many more artists are still to be confirmed.
Box office opens on Friday April 2nd, and as a special offer, up until the end of April full weekend tickets (including Camping) will be £50; after that they revert to their full price of £55. Details for the purchase of day tickets will follow shortly.

De Montfort Hall is situated at the top of Regent Road on the edge of Victoria Park. Located just one mile south of Leicester’s city centre, the Hall is well signposted on the inner ring road. If using the M1 come off at Junction 21 and follow the signs for the outer ring road (Leicester South and East), turning left along the A50 or A6 when signposted. Parking is available on the edge of Victoria Park.
By Train
Leicester’s train station is on the Intercity Midland Mainline, just over an hour from London. The station is on London Road (A6) and is only a 10 minute walk away from the Hall. For further rail enquiries please call 08457 48 49 50

Well, I'm back from Leicester! Did you miss me (or even notice I was gone! ).
I am very tired - too much alcohol and work are to blame.
On Monday night we went to Pizza Express for dinner (nothing special there then). We followed this by going to a place called Mars (I think), which was rubbish, and then the Corn Exchange where we stayed at for the rest of the night. Nothing special, but quite cheap.
On Tuesday, we went to Revolution and for a meal at a very nice chinese restaurant nearby (God knows what it was called). We obviously had the meal first, then drank lots of vodka and [censored] (I've just tried typing this word normally and it comes up as c**k - how stupid is that?). Then, somehow, we ended up in possibly the worst club night I've been to, at a club called Creation - what a load of rubbish..... it was all De Montfort's fault.

The two people from the De Montfort stand said that it would be student night there. It was a student night, but not in the sense of the word that I would normally associate with going out as a student. The music was utter crap. It was all indian themed rap (bangra?) and it was rubbish. I have never been in a club like that before. It was an experience, but never again.
We did think of going up to the DJ and asking for some Kylie or Britney, but through we may get the shit beaten out of us.....

Believe me you would. One place to avoid at all costs. In fact, there are a few small electro clubs just round the corner (and a gay bar a few yards further up the road) but they seem more gothic than anything else. It was funny that when we in a taxi going back to the hotel, the taxi driver was shoked that we went there, saying that even though he was Asian, he is ashamed ofthe people who go there on tuesdays and thursdays!
We weren't seriously going to ask for cheesy pop, but it would have been nice for a bit of a boogie, instead of loads of Sean Paul poo.
