Many people have complained about Bane's plot -- why not just blow away Gotham right away? But the whole point is to torture Batman: let him see how his beloved city descends into chaos and only after blow it away. For me the villain's plot was by fatr the best and most horrifying of all the movies.

I'd say that torturing Bruce Wayne is not the whole point actually. Another reason is to fulfil Ra's Al Ghul's legacy; His original plan had Gotham descending into chaos due to the vaporised toxin. The aim of The League of Shadows was to never simply to destroy the city but instead they wanted to demonstrate its corruption to the world by making it turn on itself. As such it was not enough simply to blow the place up and this was a different means to a similar end.

The movie storyline is weak. The point is was the weakest of the three movies. But was meant to be dark, that is the way Nolan's movies are. I removed spoilers to be honest I would think that whoever wanted to see it would have seen it by now.

Moving forward to another Batman movie with Robin in the next one.

It's good of you to remove the spoilers, but I can't help feeling that this "whoever wanted to see it would have seen it by now" attitude is wrecking all our popular culture. How long did it write to direct Dark Knight Rises? At least two years. And now after ten days it should be gone and forgotten. The unfashionable ambition of Nolan is to make movies which won't be dissected and forgotten in ten days. He has his flaws -- he is very austere and technical wiith no eye for eroticism of any kind -- but he is a name to watch for. He makes movies which don't make us go "moving forward to the next one" but to re-watch the older ones and see all the allusions to Greek mythology and classic literature, all the stuff that the modern audiences are too thick to get, because they are always looking forward to the next movie with Robin in it.

Speaking of spoilers, I remeber Gene Siskel revealing the secret of The Crying Game on Siskel & Ebert the week the movie premiered. There was a huge backlash.

ok I saw it I thought it rocked. I thought the ending was really good.although I thought they could have had a better catwoman.I just find whats her name a bit bland. she has a rockin body but yet somehow I knew she was going to be a letdown.

I find iron man to not live up to the hype though somehow.

Eldritch, to be honest this thread is about the shooting that occured that night before it opened up in the US. This thread title is Batman shooting. So everyone has gone off course here. Anyway, Christopher Nolan won't be directing anymore Batman movies so he is moving on. Those people that have seen it may see the hints about a possible next Batman movie.

You need a director who understands that the big set pieces and spectacle are necessary but not enough. You need to inject some intelligence into the movie. Although they are different in their approach Christopher Nolan and Joss Whedon both get this.

I think I've had my fill of superhero movies, thank you. I liked Raimi's Spiderman trilogy, but nothing I have seen or heard of the new movie suggests that there's anything going on there we haven't already seen. Joss Whedon is a television genius, but Avengers was an impossible project: too many heroes, too much backstory, crap villains -- it all left me with a headache. As for Batman, God help him who has to reboot him. Nolan's masterstroke was making it all "real": sure it wasn't exacly realism as we know it, but there was nothing supernatural or outlandish about anything. The Joker was a sociopath, not somebody who had fallen into a poison barrel -- and so on. But that has already been done, so what next? And I just am not really interested in all the other heroes.

There's not much more that can be said about the shooting, that hasn't already been said; Without dragging out all the old cliches, associated with terrible events.

Anyway, did somebody mention Maggie Gyllenhaal?
