To Tom : Hamburg Matthias used to have one phrase that really will 'stay' in my minds 'ear' : " I am thinking by myself" --- which we English would say as : ' I thought to myself!?' Still sends a tingle down my spine, just thinking about it ( Shame you cannot type the true accent sounds too )

Biggest 'turn-off' was a very opinionated American guy ( sorry American forum members!) who, somewhat drunkenly, drawled on and on about how quaint and tiny everything in UK was. How everything in his home town was 3 times bigger, 5 times more expensive and 10 times more fun.
Then had the flaming cheek to slurr, to me, ' you have a very annoying accent, are you from Scandanavia? ' ----- Ok I have a strong geordie accent but PUR-Leaze!!! Scandanavian! I sound nowt like any Scandanavian!

The Dutch are very very direct... that's mainly why Flemish and Dutch people often have communication problems even though they speak the same language...

Flemish people are a lot more like the British, always nice and sugarcoating everything, being "polite", not wanting to hurt people (OK< except Bigboy)... e.g. if someone asks you about her new haircut and it's awful a Flemish person will typically say "ooh, it's nice", while a Dutch person will say "honey, what the f**k have you done, you look like a troll, or even worse - Neil Tennant!"

I've always thought Scottish sounds good. I'm was born in Scotland, but unfortunately do not have an accent.....
