A new Depeche Mode song

#1 Post by Eldritch »

This was aired today at the DM press conference. No title mentioned, but I would be surprised if it wasn't called Angel Of Love.

just with some shots of their work in the studio (and a good edition) they managed to get a much better video than 'Leaving'...with no need of more money...

My thoughts exactly. They should have shot a video like that in L.A. with the backing singers, maybe a cameo by Andrew (and Cynthia's boobs! ), with random shots of L.A., the beach, etc.

Didn't enjoy that at all. I almost never like DM's "Barrel Of a Gun" type songs, but this one was just overkill. It feels "fake goth". Fake emotion. Garbage get that way too despite their good songwriting and production. Nothing new here. The collage was just that, a collage, no theme. I think I'm more interested in what Erasure is still doing that DM honestly. They're a bore. (Sorry, I know there are some big DM fans here).
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Really? I thought the Leaving video wasn't very good but what's good about that DM one above? It's dire. It's studio shots of plugging stuff in.

I didn't have high expectations for this new music since Ben Hillier was coming back...They have made this fake goth, as York Minster said, since Playing With the Angel, and it's getting boring

The new song is really cool, I like it, its really Depeche Mode at one of their best for sure! I don't know why there is no album title by now, last press conferences they had the titles.

I think is the conjuction of the editing, the better image quality/photography/contrast or whatever, the variety of shots, nice use of the focus, camera movements, exposure effects...and all made with original material (I mean not used before and maybe specially shoot for this). I other words, all inexpensive things that 'Leaving' doesn`t have, and makes the visual experience much more enjoyable. The fact that is black and white is just a coincidence, but helps in the comparison ;)

Just re-watched the video in full HD - it really is an excellent in-studio collage, full of things to discover plus some very nice shots both inside and outside of the studio, more like a proper video really.

The song has grown on me too, some raw electro blues indeed - I'm getting excited...

I did not make up that list, I copied that exactly the way Daniel Barassi posted the tour dates on the official DM facebook. However on the official site, it says: Borlange -Borlange Peace & Love Festival
