I literally just did that on Thursday. Got myself a Beatles and Rolling Stones compilation with it. Unfortunately I had pre-ordered GTA V from there and looks like I'm gonna lose that and my £2 deposit.StevePSB wrote:Get them Christmas gift vouchers cashed in pronto (if it's not too late already) !

Bought my Memory of the Future singles from HMV online, they only arrived today, I was sweating a few days ago that HMV would go bust before I got them! I hasten to add I bought them the week before release and they arrived today. It's a shame but it's inevitable. That would make a good PSB song title wouldn't it?

Looks like I've lost £20 of vouchers too, goodbye Lost Sirens
Very sad to see HMV go, I bought most of my records there, and I used to be a DJ, so that is a LOT of records!

The kids wouldn't need giant headphones if they weren't listening to lossy, compressed files downloaded from the Internet.

The bit at the very bottom is interesting - HMV hold 38% of the physical music market. The final nail in the CD's coffin?

HMV and Jessops have gone mainly because of Apple. Everything is ipod, ipad, iphone. Not just Apple of course but the digital age has ruined these places. You can take an excellent photo on your phone now.
I know somebody that recently bought a £500 Jessops voucher. It's disgusting they are allowed to sell these, knowing the shit is about to hit the fan.

It's that and the fact that if people buy CDs/DVDs they tend to buy them online because by and large it's cheaper and easier.Undertaker wrote:HMV and Jessops have gone mainly because of Apple. HMV stores have become second-rate retailers of iPhone peripheral dreck. Hell, you can even go into HMV and buy a Mars bar now. Making room for music has long been a secondary concern.

I decided to buy PSB's Concrete album (why it took me this long I dunno), from Amazon. It's cheap, much cheaper, but the I don't like about online retailing is simple. I don't want to wait to get the product. I have to wait till next week to get it.

HMV to a good degree have themselves to blame, but last night I unsubscribed from all marketing emails from Amazon and will not use them again unless I literally have no other choice. Until they start playing fair on tax like everyone else they have a very unfair advantage and that shouldn't be allowed. I hope others have similar thoughts and that Amazon are forced to change their ways.

Oh I think more and more should dodge paying tax. most can't but good luck to those who can.

To the detriment of legitimate UK companies who play fair? No, it's not on.
At least Starbucks had the decency to change their policy once they were named and shamed. Amazon should do the decent thing and follow suit.
