Bowie's new album cover art

I immediately thought it was Farrow, with the use of the white square covering the image like Elysium, but quickly realised he wouldn't shop his idea that blatantly. An interesting read and like Elysium, provocative design.

Indeed. Provocative, but the execution of it is just horrible. I can't help thinking Farrow would have done this a million times better.Debussy wrote:http://virusfonts.com/news/2013/01/davi ... er-design/

I don't see anything wrong with the album cover. Nothing horrible about it. It is quite creative to be honest.

Yes, I think the idea is quite clever. It made me laugh. But the novelty quickly wears off, and I say, it looks bloody terrible. Could have been done a lot better.Pet Shop Girl wrote:I don't see anything wrong with the album cover. Nothing horrible about it. It is quite creative to be honest.

I still like it, there are a ton of bad album covers from various bands. Nothing is as bad as the Erasure "Pop" greatest hits album cover.

Hate the cover, but the album is streaming free on iTunes (at least here) and generally sounds good to great. Anyone else heard it, have an opinion? Lots of echoes of his earlier stuff. I particularly like "Valentine's Day" I think, that follows "Where Are We Now? .
Which to me at least, is an instant classic.

Bowie's new video is so awesome. The best music video in over a decade, in my opinion. PSB should work with Sigismondi on their next video. And the song is quite good!

Just out of curiousity, and not breaking my heart over the charts anymore, but I kept an eye out to see where The Stars (Are Out Tonight) would end up on the singles, and the answer is, I don't know. It missed the top 100. The corresponding album is still not out yet. How times change.
I'm a proud sycophant because I like Wedding in Berlin

The album cover is extremely witty and luv the songs, one of David Bowie's best albums. The video for his latest single is also awesome! I like that director which he has used before in his other videos and having Tilda Swinton in the video is what brought some edge to it.

I wasn't sure about the artwork until this week, when, around London where the usual flyposters go up, the small white "The Next Day" square has been put over other posters. Then i realised it's genius!

Another rather clever innovation there then.tottenhammattspurs wrote:I wasn't sure about the artwork until this week, when, around London where the usual flyposters go up, the small white "The Next Day" square has been put over other posters. Then i realised it's genius!
Yes, I streamed the new album on iTunes already... it's been so long since the disappointing 'Reality' that I couldn't resist. To me it sounds like a continuation of 'Heathen' which is no bad thing. I rather like it, though "Where Are We Now" is still probably my favourite track so far.

PSB should have done that with Elysium...tottenhammattspurs wrote:I wasn't sure about the artwork until this week, when, around London where the usual flyposters go up, the small white "The Next Day" square has been put over other posters. Then i realised it's genius!
