I think it's a derogatory term based on class, so probably. In the US you're admired if you've come from nothing and then you make it. Not here, it seems. So therefore Cheryl Cole has to be a 'slag'.

I'm Canadian and I don't think I'd have come across the word "chav" if I didn't read these boards. I wouldn't know who GA or Cheryl Cole were either.Radiophonic wrote:I think it's a derogatory term based on class, so probably. Great voice! Lovely girl. Ignore the snobs.
Agree that it's odd that Skyfall won on a Oscar when none of the John Barry Bond themes did.

Skyfall was Adele seemingly just rumbling through the motions, and it was said that she recorded the whole thing and was in and out in 10 minutes. Sounds like it too.

No, he's a fat crack dealer.Radiophonic wrote:What's the difference between Chery Cole being brought up on a council estate in Newcastle, NW England and, say, Jay Z who was brought up on a housing project in Brooklyn, NY? Does that make him a chav?

Who's ever heard that voice? She mimed on all her recent TV appearances, including X Factor which is disgraceful given the shows content and intentions.Spittingcat wrote:Great voice! Lovely girl.
Has she ever been on Jools Holland? No. I bet she's been asked or has been considered. Wonder what her agent thought of that...''Would be great publicity but my client cannot sing live at all'' That's usually a good judgement that I go by.

Yeah. I don't necessarily like a lot of QT's stuff, but "Jackie Brown" is a gem. A subtle gem, as you say. And , I honestly do admire him for that. After "Pulp Fiction", he could've made any movie he wanted to, huge budget, with any movie star, he only had to ask. And he decided to make this smoky 70's noir with the wonderful Pam Grier, not necessarily marketable in a huge way. I will always admire him for that. And, "Jackie Brown" to me is definitely his best movie. Layers and layers, striking characterizations, great supporting cast. Great film, you have good taste.Palpatine wrote:I think Jackie Brown suffered because it was his follow-up to Pulp Fiction, and people probably expected another tour-de-force instead of a movie that is more subtle, not as in your face. It's an amazing movie, though.
Ps. No hard feelings about the Adele thing, I hope. Robust discussion! Have a great weekend, Palpy.

Queen of the Chavs used to be Daniella Westbrook. Now, she just looks like a springer spaniel.
Tulisa is now undoubtedly the Queen.
