Very sad. I actually shed a few tears when I heard, which was a strange feeling for someone I'd never met. Genius who's entertained me all of my life. RIP.

Yes... and I had very recently been watching "Bottom" on the BBC's iPlayer. Great stuff to watch, especially if you're a bit depressed (long story).

Re: RIP Rik Mayall
I've been binge-watching The Young Ones last couple of nights. Funny to say he was a big part of my later childhood, when Rik Mayall and his shows weren't really child friendly (some of The Young Ones videos back in the day were rated PG, now the most recent boxset is rated 18!). My brother seen him live a few times when the Bottom stage show was touring. We're both crushed by this.
I'm a proud sycophant because I like Wedding in Berlin

Was very saddened to hear. Loved the Young Ones and Bottom.
And the appearances as Flasheart in Blackadder. Blackadder really
is a whos who of that generation of British Comedy.
As an example of talent, Rik and Ades episode of Bottom with the
ferris wheel is brilliant. A whole episode taking place in one tiny setting.

Sprouts Mexicane.
He was brilliant.
Agreed Greg, that was magnificent. I'd have loved to have thanked him for making us laugh.
Happily, I was able to thanks Ben Elton for Blackadder at an awards night he was hosting a few years back.
I know these people are rewarded financially but it's nice to be able to say, 'thanks for making me laugh, for putting me in a good mood'.
