Strange penalty... I will never believe that the referee wasn't bought by Germany. Who are Portugal for them?

Nothing strange about that penalty imo. Germany strong as always when it comes to the world championship, no surprise there.

No penalty, but when Portugal player felt - no reaction. Germany is strong, but it's no good to play 11-10.

Agree that Portugal should have been given a penalty too in the second half. It's not easy to play with 10 players, but that's what you get when players like Pepe behaves like an idiot. Overall Germany was the better team, no question about it.

I think the referee must understand that if he gives a penaltee - he breaks the game. Portulal had few moments ib the first half, but after penalty and Pepe (out) - they were really upset. They should watch the repeat to be sure. I must say Lisboa is one of my fav cities and I left a piece of my heart there)))... I hope Portugal will show the class in the future. Germany plays well, they would play in the final against Brazil.

It will be interesting to see USA-Ghana later toninght. Group G is a tough one, Germany will qualify for sure, but I think it's quite hard to predict which team will be the second one.

Re: World Cup 2014
Course Germany bought the match. Isn't it grand how Germany get a penalty within a few minutes when many other teams would never get one, esp. if your team plays for a small country? Also, it was not a penalty because Götze was the first to commit a foul by tugging at the Portuguese player who in turn held on to Götze! As for the red card? Mueller, that cheating sack of s--t, pretended he just got hit by an uppercut! Course Pepe got upset because Mueller tried to get Pepe sent off with a red card. Then when Pepe slightly touched Mueller's head, he got sent off? Really? A yellow card would have been god enough. It was not a head butt and it caused Mueller no pain. And how is it any worse than a proper foul committed when a player kicks his opponent in the shinbones causing much more pain and injury AND interrupting the opponent's advantage? How come nobody ever questions this ridiculous rule? So it's fine if you foul somebody during play but woe and behold if you as much as touch your opponent during an interruption? What is this? A man's sport or tea time?
Let's face it. Small teams don't have a prayer, see Croatia, see Greece, see Portugal. The refs are always gonna call the matches for the big ones and their big money. FIFA is thoroughly corrupt.

Portugal is not a 'small' team at all. That's a ridiculous thing to say. Besides, that red card was a tough one, I give you that but Pepe sometimes behaves like an idiot and doesn't have the best reputation as far as temper control is concerned. So the situation kind of looked pretty stupid from him once again although it was not really an unsportsmanlike foul, yeah. But let's face it, I know some of you in this thread don't really like the Germans and I don't have a problem with that but it is funny to read that the game or the ref was bought and stuff like that. All in all it should have been 5 or 6-0 at the end (two very big chances missed by Özil and Götze in the second half for example) and Portugal was very weak yesterday. This would have been a clear victory for Germany, anyway.

Re: World Cup 2014
I don't even think the red card was a tough one. Pepe just can't control himself, it's irrelevant if Mueller got hurt or not and if it was not a hard headbutt, his head should simply not been there at all. Of course Mueller over reacted a bit when Pepe put his hand in his face, probably because he knows Pepe is easily provoked, and Pepe swallowed the bate, fish and hock.

It was NOT a red card! A slight touching of heads is not worthy of a red card. How is this worse than a proper foul involving shinbones and thighs? How many times do players have scuffles and don't even get a yellow card? And above all: It was not a penalty. Götze was the first to foul. I am happy the Germans actually believe that they played a great match when in fact it was decided by the ref. They are so full of themselves but they are in for a rude awakening.

Re: World Cup 2014
The guy went in with his head and there was contact meaning a red card. Nobody can defend a person that willingly headbutts somebody, no matter how slight it may have been. It is violent conduct even if he missed him, the thing that matters is the intent, contact or no contact. Muller deserved a yellow for faking injury too, the way he suddenly jumped up after the head butt was a joke and its about time action was taken for faking injury. With all the TV replays it still amazes me nothing is being done. It must change for the good of the game.

Re: World Cup 2014
Yesterday a Brazilian player dived in the box with minimal contact. The referee could easily given them a penalty but didn't. I'm sorry but I just don't buy these accusations about the officials all being corrupt and paid to allow this or that team through. Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.
Brilliant goalkeeping display by Ochoa last night. I thought that Mexico could get at least a draw against Brazil and was proved right. I'm actually more worried about the Croatia game for Mexico; they often struggle against big athletic European sides.

Mexican goalkeeper must be the best player of the Cup. Probbaly he would be sold one to the best clubs in the world like Barca or Real. He deserves to play there.
