REQUEST: Democratic vote for a new sub-forum for Nickname's polls

#1 Post by Ghost within this house »

Dear Steve and Drico,

Please, if an overwhelming majority vote 'yes' in this poll, could you create a further sub-forum for Nickname's incessant, endless, poorly conceived and space-consuming polls, so that the main forum can be a easier place to navigate, with fewer inane threads that push the good threads more than half way down our pages?

I have placed a 72 hour time limit on this.

I would define an 'overwhelming majority' as 90% answering 'yes', with a minimum voting body of 50 people.

If the House of Commons can discuss banning Trump from entering the UK, then I hope the Mods can act swiftly and decisively in this case.

I would be delighted for this thread to be deleted or moved as soon as it expires.

All good wishes,

Ghost

It should easilly surpass the average number of voters in "rate it" polls.
I've been around the world for a number of reasons. I've seen it all the change of seasons, and I, my lord, may I say nothing?

I don't think that would be a good idea. That's basically asking us to censor a particular user.

Maybe Nickname will reflect upon the good or bad of what he sees in this thread & poll.

To move, not to censor. And as you've just done that to this thread, a precedent has been established.

Ok, then, how about a whole sub-forum for polls from any user? With Wayne, given his status, the only user allowed to announce his poll in the main forum.

Doesn't this already exist? The "All Other Polls" sub forum?

How about just merging threads where necessary? Editing some down too
Inane polls like ''what shape of bottle does Chris prefer to drink from?'' or ''What brand of razor does Neil use?'' are a waste of bandwidth

I suggest that StevePSB just has a private word with him, the problem is that all his threads are basically trolling and are pushing other more relevant and interesting threads down the list and often out of view while being incrediby annoying at the same time.

When somebody starts taking over forums like this something needs to be done but nicely and in the right way, he means well and is obviously keen and is not nasty or bad in any way just very annoying and it is clugging up and ruining the forum.

Whereas I am obviously nasty and bad, and deserve to have my poll relegated to the Off Topic Forum IMMEDIATELY.

I had no idea that was the case! I guess it is not "politically correct" anymore to have a democratic vote on something that is effecting the on topic forum. Utter madness but as I have been told myself this forum is not a democracy and we have to accept it or leave. So I guess we all better be prepared for lots more pointless ridiculous topics popping up in the main forum, otherwise we might hurt nicknames feelings or something? And that these days is MUCH more important than anything else!

Greetings,

Whether something is in the right sub-forum should depend solely on whether it's in the right sub-forum or not (i.e. not on "feelings")

I trust that the moderators/admin have a good grip on what's on and off topic. If we as members see anything that we looks suspicious we can report it and bring it to their attention.

I dont think its fair to blame nickname alone for the many threads and the mess it creates. Sure he creates many silly polls which can be a good laugh or just anoying if youre not in the mood. But to many threads on simular topics is a general forum "problem". But I can live with it.
