Apparently last week, according to the news, Bremer Trust, the St. Cloud, Minnesota, company given temporary authority over Prince's estate, opened the vault to which only Prince had the code. Inside they discovered enough unreleased music to release a new album every year for the next century.
You can only guess the amount of unreleased stuff that's in there, not to mention what's already out in the wild. Prince was probably the most prolific singer/writer in my generation. Kinda makes you wonder what the Pet Shop Boys might have hidden away. Here's hoping that all musicians (and regular folk out there) get a will done up asap if they don't have one so they can avoid what's going on with Prince's estate.

Prince was a very talented musician that used his talents to write horrible music and justify a horrible attitude. I will not miss him.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

Very interesting, would be cool to know in more details what was in the vault, like, if the music is labelled, divided by project and how many tracks per project, without having to ask for too secret stuff.
That said, I feel that Prince's death reaction is inferior to Bowie, alone by the number of posts here, or threads. Not nice to see. I think Prince was highly trend-setting.

Prince was a very prolific musician, not just in terms of writing, but performing. There is a ton of studio bootleg material out there. The one article I read said that there could be a Prince album released every year until the end of the century (or something along those lines, but I highly doubt that). From some of the recent stuff I've read about him and his musical writings, it seems like he'd start a project and then abandon it - even right up the stage of completion. Just look at what happened when the Black Album was supposed to come out. Promos had been pressed up, commercial copies pressed up and then at the last minute he decided he didn't want to release it, so all copies were destroyed (tho some promos and commercial copies did make it out). Brilliant musician, but quite fickle at times.PoloPony wrote:Very interesting, would be cool to know in more details what was in the vault, like, if the music is labelled, divided by project and how many tracks per project, without having to ask for too secret stuff.

He wrote fantastic music and gave astonishing performances, songs that people have enjoyed for decades and will enjoy for decades to come.Luke Colorado wrote:Prince was a very talented musician that used his talents to write horrible music and justify a horrible attitude. I will not miss him.
What will you leave to the world, Luke? Not as much as Prince, that's for sure. Your bitter comment speaks volumes about you.

So what? If the person acts like an ass why should I like someone because they're really good at their job?
I'm a proud sycophant because I like Wedding in Berlin

Exactly. My talent is being a self-aware, descent, human being; and of that I am proud.
