However, I guess you can take the corn and the chicken or the fox and the chicken on the boat, since they wouldn't be alone; you'd be with them

There must always be at least 1 thing in the boat, the chicken, corn or fox

If its Two items plus the boatman/woman

Then you take the Fox and the corn over, leave the Fox go back with the corn for the chicken and take them over!

Who said anything about anyone being in the boat as in a man or woman. It's just the 3 things on the bank. Yes, they are clever. Especially the corn. They can all row the boat

. There is no one else other than the chicken, corn and fox.

As for convenience I would just let the chicken have the corn, let the fox have the chicken and I eat grilled fox. Row to the shore so I work of the calories and then fall asleep under a tree.

Saves an awful lot of peddling up and down as well...

D'oh it was too damned easy
