I'm reading the old Smash Hits archive and I came across Mandy Smith. I remembered there was something about her. Then I saw on Wikipedia she had a relationship with that Rolling Stone bass player Bill Wyman. When she was 14.

We're already at June 1987; before we know it, the imperial phase will be over!

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats
Been watching some of these repeats
I’m struck that most weeks the top 40 chart has some superb tracks, but the producers of totp pick some right stinkers. I mean, last week we had Tom Jones singing the boy from nowhere

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats
My understanding is that for the majority of the show’s history there was a pretty rigid policy as to what made the show, rather than it being down to producers’ choice.tucky101 wrote:Been watching some of these repeats

The number one single was always a dead cert. They’d then move down the chart, with each new entry, climber or non-mover being added, providing it hadn’t appeared the previous week.
Each artist would be invited to appear in the studio; those that turned it down had their video shown instead.
This logic helped make sure the show reflected the true diversity of the charts, with the public essentially dictating who got to play - stinkers and all.
Woof.

She's not her, she was very beautiful young woman, now she's a decent middle aged female. She was a model.

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats
Erasure kick off the programme; it's funny how much Vince yielded that guitar in the early days. Obviously anticipating the Release era, this once again shows who the true synth-pop innovators were.

I'm rather excited about the arrival of It's a sin in a few weeks. It will stand head and shoulders ahead of everything else in the charts.
I'm always waiting...
