Erasures new album is out. I wish Pet Shop Boys would come up with album cover ideas like this...!

Re: The neon
FFS this is a PSB site. Please delete this thread immediately. Vince Clarke's tired, samey, turgid plinky plonk keyboards have no place here. No development since the days od Depeche Mode. None. Whatsoever. How anyone could listen to this s*** is beyond comprehension. Past it's sell-by date some 40 years...
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

PSB have already done neon on a cover. Fundamental. And it was aesthetically better in every conceivable way.

Re: The neon
Put an Erasure track from 1986 next to one from 2020 and you have the same tinny, old-Casio keyboard sounding rubbish backing with the same old wailing OTT vocals. Put Suburbia (for example) next to Monkey business or Burning the heather and anyone can hear the actual evolution of the PSB sound. Music should evolve not stay the same.
The future is the present now. Music must be played.
Re: The neon
I think that was the point of the thread. I agree with others that Ive never enjoyed VCs plinky plonky music that's evolved little since the 80s. It had its place with early Depeche Mode and Erasure but in 2020 we want a little more meat on those bones.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Tue 21 Jul 2020, 10:18 am PSB have already done neon on a cover. Cluttered, garish and sentimental.
Much like 21st century Erasure.
Much like 21st century Erasure.

Re: The neon
The 2 songs I've heard, not really impressed. PSB continue to make music that sounds distinctly PSB but unique relative to other stuff they've created. Erasure sounds like the same stuff over and over anymore. Disappointing, I was a very big erasure fan for a very long time.
