PSB - Radio 1 August 1991

#1 Post by One of the crowd »

Following on from the other post, I have found my tapes from the first time that they sat in for Simon Bates from Monday 12th August 1991 to Friday 16th August 1991.

They were recorded on TDK D60 and D90s and there are some gaps where Ive changed the tapes!!

I've done the first day and will get round to doing the rest this week so be patient!!

These have brought back so many memories. I'm sure I had these once. I was working in a building society and it was about the time that I had handed in my notice to leave to go to university. I would have been due to be working at 9.00am but I remember starting a tape in the office hifi at 9.00am and making sure I was on the first break to turn it over at 10.00am.

The play a record at some point in the week that I absolutely loved but could never find in a world pre-Shazam. I've since found some peace that it was 'Mi Santo' but it will be interesting to hear if it is - especially since I haven't heard this for nearly three decades.

Thanks for posting - i'm actually enjoying this more than my uploads. 1991 really was a great year for music - I still love some of the records they played - 'Crucified', 'Peace' 'EMF'. Can't wait for the other uploads.

It's great listening to them at 9.00am too!

Just fantastic to hear these again, Neil
said once that it sounded like a pirate radio station. Simon Bates had massive ratings at the time and for the boys to play the fantastic dance music in the morning was brilliant. I think it’s the most enthusiastic I’ve heard Chris in public and in the early 90’s I was going to clubs and raves and the boys gained some new fans and respect from fellow racers for the tracks that they played. A very happy time in the early 90’s.

The song I mentioned not hearing for three decades is on the 10-11 segment - Dèsenchantè by Mylène Farmer.

I am currently introducing the song to all my neighbours on the estate. It won’t be 30 years till they hear it again!

Merci. G.

I saw I only had Monday's megamix, so happy to have these recordings. Thanks a lot.
I did find two mp3 files where they did this in... I think it's 1994, because they mentioned the "Absolutely fabulous song will be released next week".
