Dubstar are back!

#1 Post by james23_uk »

Dropped a new single on 1st June "waltz no. 9" with new album "one" to be released in sept. Second track also now available "you were never in love". Both are HUGE growers for me and I'm 'super' excited!

Just Sarah and Chris now as appears Steve Hillier wasn't interested in the reunion despite various hints over the last few years that they were all working on a new album together.

Single streaming here plus link to pre-order the album which gives you a downloads of the two tracks so far.

Crap! How did I miss this?? I'm a huge Dubstar fan, but I guess not huge enough!! A shame about Steve not wanting to reform with them. The group had oodles of goodies and B-sides during their initial run.

Dubstar are back again, with the new Stephen Hague produced Single Hygiene Strip. On first listen, it’s up there with their best.

There are two complete but unreleased comeback albums with Steve from around 10 years ago. One day I hope to hear them.

Steve was recently asked on Twitter, if they’ll ever be released. He replied that he’d given his word to Sarah and Chris, that he’ll never release the albums without their permission. Unfortunately they won’t return his calls, or respond to his messages.

Love Dubstar there are 37 unreleased songs I was looking for the Interview it's on youtube where Steve states there was a nuff material for 3 Albums and Sarah turns and looks at him with the expression of you what. There is a new Album called 2 nice interview here https://www.albumism.com/features/dubst ... -interview
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

I hope this new track bodes well for an upcoming album. The last one was pretty good, but was disappointed that there were really no physical singles and / or remixes put out.

Interesting interview for sure! I noticed at the bottom the Editor’s Note that interview elements of this tribute have been slightly edited from the original version, per the request of a third party. I'm sure that third party was Steve Hillier. They were certainly prolific with their B-side songs, non album tracks and other bits. The link to his "Dubstar" site in a preceding post above yours was quite informative as I didn't realize he had material for two more albums. I have, over the years, managed to track down loose songs from their output - i.e. stuff that didn't appear on their full length albums or singles.

Hygiene Strip is fantastic

Love that vocal delivery ... perfect enunciation ...
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

I have always been intrigued by the fact that Sarah rarely write the lyrics because she really sings from the heart and I've always loved the way she sings with her own accent.

The recent 'comeback album' was ok-ish but Hygiene strip gives me hope that the next one will be better. Ironically it sounds quite like Saint Etienne, who Sarah has always dissed.

One of my favourite Dubstar songs is I lost a friend (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lgrn8tSv1c), which was bizarrely only a b-side.
Passion, love, sex, money, violence, religion, injustice and death. More on that story later.
