Superb Pet Shop Boys Influenced Track

#1 Post by Gary1962 »

On my Radio shows (White Lion Radio) I have played tracks by a german artist called Mindmodvl, they have just released a fabulous track all about the lockdown, which sounds very much like it could be a Pet Shop Boys track.

Definitely worth a listen:

Not bad though it needs a bit of development as it's a bit sparse sounding. They also need to re-record "elite" to the correct pronunciation. The theme of the song is obviously highly relevant and speaks to my fears about the post-pandemic world.

Pretty good facsimile, down to the vocals. Still amateurish, but compared to similar pieces of aural politics we had to endure from some members of this forum, it's a masterpiece.

Go on mate, you loved it. And since you enjoyed the New Order inspired one so much, why not go one further and enjoy the Pet Shop Boys inspired one too? 8)

As for the song in the OP, I appreciate the subtlety of the lyrics and that by virtue of making an effort to sound like a certain artist, fans of that artist who might not otherwise be disposed to such a view (for whatever reason - alignment with Neil, The Guardian, BBC etc.) will be exposed to it, in a subtle, thought-provoking manner. Whilst the sound itself didn't do much for me, the lyrics were very much in the lineage of Neil.

Retro. :)

For everyone: Some lovely bits to the tune. Not just copying either, a few more original moments as well. Worth a listen. Not sure who’s subdued though, political unrest and change is afoot in many countries right now.

Sorry to pour cold water, but, whereas it could be a PSB track, it is not and has no material connection whatsoever. This thread should have been created in the Offtopic subforum.
The guy produces lots of music that is inspired by Pet Shop Boys and is a big fan of theirs, so there is a PSB connection :D

I listened to some of his other tracks on YouTube and yes his influences are clear. Thanks for posting. Who gives a toss which subforum it is in!

I understand you would perhaps not care if there were no subforums here and all threads were just flat in one place. But I (and not only) like to see things organised. When I see a new thread in this PSB subforum I have a reasonable expectation that it has some sort of direct connection to what PSB themselves do, and when I see it is not the case I feel cheated.

Greetings,

I agree with Greendrake. If we hoof Cicero off to the Off-Topic section, then this clearly falls on the wrong side of the divide.

Me in any case, I live from day to day and enjoy the present moment.
