Well it's a pleasant enough melody but surely after Agenda, Neil should have learned that political commentary doesn't belong in pop music. It would be better to keep the backing but rewrite the lyrics as a love song.

There's nothing wrong with political commentary; their catalogue is replete with it, but this is so on the nose. It sounds like a twelve year old school pupil has been asked to write a song about the bogeyman for homework.

That's probably why they released it as a demo. This is clearly an emotionally written song about a leader of a country he clearly loves. And that's a very not PSB thing to do: show emotions. But on the other hand: doing something against what people know of PSB is a very PSB thing to do too.

Call me old fashioned but I love it. The lyric is very much on the nose. But it really captures something. I get it isn’t to everyone’s taste but to me the fact that after over 30 years PSB can write something so beautiful and just toss it out as a “home demo” on YouTube shows the sheer quality and consistency of their songwriting.
