Anyone heard/like this track? It's interesting, on a couple of levels..

First, because it has that Giorgio Moroder-esque "Midnight Express" sound that the Boys often favor in their remixes.. it's a good disco stomp.

Second, because though I've never cared for the Cure's brand of mope rock, or Smith's voice, it makes me wonder, the extent that electronic dance music has triumphed over instrumental rock music in Europe over the last decade and a half..

Not a bad development IMHO. Love it actually. But if even Smith is doing disco, it underscores it for me how old standards have fallen away for 'rock' artists...

Just a few thoughts. I'm referring to the "Vocal" single of this, not the dull soulless da-da longer version(s)..

I've liked this track from the start. Even though I like the electro/dance sound, the other thing I like about the track is that, if you take away all that electro stuff, you're still left with a nice song which would fit in nicely in the The Cure repertoire.

Also, unlike you, I like Robert's voice, especially now when he's getting older (and fatter). The thing I liked about the Blank&Jones remix of The Forest, for example, was that instead of using the original vocal track, they had Robert do the vocals again. It's sweet

Awesome track.

The sample is actually Bobby O - Im So Hot For You, which in turn I think he nicked from Human League's Dont You Want Me.

I can totally hear that- like the opening of Don't you..

But the sample is turned to replicating that Moroder sound, specifically "The Chase" from the "Midnight Express" soundtrack, 1978..

In some ways it's the progenitor of the trance remix; it's extended form was not radio-friendly , but the booming disco culture gave it a certain primacy in nightclubs from Stockholm to San Francisco; in any case Neil would certainly be familiar with the track.

I will try and post a link to it- in some ways it's the grandpa of the PSB remix, but still sounds great after 26 years. .it's ultra-modern..

Wow this is good stuff..
The track was actually out as a single in February from an excellent album called 'Trust It'. Check out 'Stupidisco' from it which is also cracking..
