Of course, this time matches with the topic of the song but another video using the body of men like basic issue. A huge lack of ideas and budget.
I can't tell if this is a joke but he was a BALLET DANCER. Of course the topic of the video will be his body and its movement, that's what he's known for. You can critique the lack of ideas, budget, lyrics, whatever you want really... BUT "USING THE BODY OF MEN LIKE BASIC ISSUE"? I'm sorry but that's not a critique, that's ignorance and a bit of internalized homophobia.
Thank you. Don't know what’s going on in her mind. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Is he a "she"???? There was a lady fan a long time ago obsessed with the Boys. Is he, sorry, she her again?

As far as I remember balloons with somewhat „strange“ messages were part of it all, too. Well, it couldn’t get any stranger than what we’re served to read here…

Think I prefer the Solonun remix to the main version. Even Neil's voice sounds better mixed there.

I live in Russia and ballet is very popular here, although I don't watch it. I don't see any sales of sex here. It's just a man dancing. We have a lot of men like that on TV every day on the Culture channel. I know ballet is a very difficult and brutal thing. Children are trained and fed properly from a very young age, but when you do ballet, you can say goodbye to many things in life. Russia has a very strong ballet school and we have the best Vaganova School in the world in St Petersburg. But, again, it's incredible labour and enormous physical exertion. I've talked to ballerinas from other countries who came to come here to St Petersburg or to continue performing, but they didn't manage to do it because their level was not up to the mark and they had to work as private teachers for children without ever becoming professional dancers. For example, one girl had been doing ballet since she was 4 years old, she came to St. Petersburg, went to audition at the school, but realised that her level was even lower than some children. It was a tragedy for her, because in her country she was prophesied to succeed in Russia, but in the end she started travelling to European countries and performing in local theatres, which eventually broke her, because every ballerina dreams of performing at the Mariinsky Theatre. In the end, she just started working for an advertising firm.

Old Soak wrote: Fri 05 Apr 2024, 6:27 pm Well the video is way better than the Loneliness one even if clearly on a cheaper budget using old footage because Neil and Chris are in it much more and live up to the legend of Chris doing nothing, which he does so well. I'd love to hear an instrumental version, there's so much reminiscent of their early stuff, particularly West End girls. Shame the lyrics don't match up to normal standards this time which is a rarity, just all a bit cringeworthy fanboy IMO. Same emotion as for Queen's 'Song For Lennon', wimpy.

Edit: I've just realised what it is why I'm struggling with this song - one of the sheer joys of Neil's lyrics is that they usually have more layers than an onion. You can sit and unpick and interpret a track in multiple ways often, the depth is a defining characteristic I personally get so much pleasure from. This is simply one-dimensional and flat lyrically, nothing to ponder.
I completely disagree. This isn't merely a song about Nureyev, it's about the human spirit - flaws and all - and particularly about transgression. The use of language is, at times, beautiful. Only a master lyricist can write that epic second verse, rhyme "Tsar" with "star", and drop in "sombre" when referencing totalitarian Soviet masculinity. "Among sombre men" is vastly more detailed than what the likely alternative "among all the men" would have been. All with a word. Tennant paints a vivid picture, one befitting the pop poet laureate that he is. He even manages to enunciate "Took all" so that it sounds like De Gaulle - president of France at the time of the Paris defection - just as we are placing ourselves at Orly airport (which is actually the one piece of artistic license he takes for ryhming reasons, no doubt).

I've deleted my previous post. I realise it was too aggressive and I should had just ignored NN posts. I don't think it contributed anything positive to the forum and I apologise for that.

Nickname continues his tradition of being offensive and vile and simultaneosly unable to comprehend it. At this point, his presence on the forum is simply a lack of common sense and a serious lapse of moderation judgement. They singlehandedly make this place 50% worse.

I like it more and more, but I'm carrying everything with a madness in my head.
I guess you know the Barbie Girl song from Aqua. Well, at the beginning of Dancing Star, the phrases at the beginning in which they say come to mind.

Hiya, Barbie
Hi, Ken

It is very unfair for people who are posting extreme comments on both sides of the argument, to then expect the moderators to constantly step in and fall on your side of the argument.

Either learn to moderate yourselves, or as some people have pointed out previously, just block the people you are offended by and then you won't have to see their posts.

It is depressing for the rest of us to constantly have to read these, when we should all be sharing the same excitement of talking about new PSB material in 2024 !

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Depeche released a new video for People are Good today and it's got two men kissing...a couple of disappointing (to say the least) comments on that as well. I find myself engaging less and less with people on message boards or social media in general as while people are free to express themselves, they seem to feel it's also the best place to show that they are just terrible human beings.

A simple ban from the page would fix things but I'm not sure how closely the mods watch the site to be honest.

Personally, I think people are just becoming far too jittery and fragile nowadays.shame its come here also.

Some of the people complaining about nickname have been on the forum for decades griping about his posts but today it seems they’re using the playbook of today’s generation by responding to his fairly benign silly comments with nasty over the top hate.

Its just nickname
