Oh my mate also said it was seated like a wedding when we sat down and Neil said exactly the same at the end

Wedding in Ber....NEVER MIND
And there was a bonus 'it's a river, not a canal' from Neil. Also acknowledged the Orly/Le Bourget thing.

Interview with Jon Savage was quite interesting, although by now we've heard the same stuff many times already. The Q and A was fun, and they had a nice rapport with the audience.
A few tidbits...
Chris Google-translated the lyrics of Schalger into German to help him write suitable music, and recorded a demo with him singing them. It might see the light of day at some point.
Disco 5 is a possibility, maybe next year, and will probably be remixes of other people's music.
They're announcing on Wednesday that there'll be a DJ as the support for the UK shows. I didn't catch who it was.
The Naked musical includes lots of "pop songs".

What was the bit about Barack Obama, did Neil say they met him back in the day when they were going to house clubs in Chicago or did I mishear that? Again, apologies if that is old news.
(ETA the caveat...this also may have been in one of the several radio segments I've listened to in the past few days, I have had very little sleep).
And the bit about the crowd in Leeds generally being a bit extra

Obama was the local senator who called for a Frankie Knuckles Day in Chicago in 2004.

Yes a chap asked if Neil had any anecdotes about re-recording the vocal. Said Transcentral (sp?) was in a really sketchy part of Brixton and his driver waited to see that he got inside OK.
(You didn't ask but Bill Drummond owns an historic building/arts space near where my Mum lives and we see him out and about every so often, I once almost called the cops as there was a dodgy van parked in our yard, it was the Drummond clan, oops!!)
Advice to past selves, Chris said he would tell himself to enjoy it more. Can't recall if Neil answered.
How to they keep fit, Neil walks four miles a day and used to do yoga but no longer, been advised to do pilates.
Chris sleeping, obvs.
How they choose support acts? How the Dave Pearce revelation was announced. String quartet was recommended by a poet friend if I heard correctly but they had to ask them to popularise the set a bit.
Enough songs for another album without a four year gap? Some being used for the Naked musical and b-sides.
Asked if they realised how much their music touches people, Neil said a lot of their songs come from a place of grief and loss. I thought he became a bit emotional.
Disco 5? May be coming next year but said that Disco 4 got a lot of flak.
What colour is Friday? Neil, yellow, Chris, fuschsia.
'Can I send you my artwork based on Kings Cross?' - send an email.
If we can remember any more, will update.

Was party in the Blitz also inspired by the Blitz club, hence Princess Julia on the remix. Any stories from the Blitz?
About living on the edge and making the most of your life in the face of death. Lots of louche behaviour under cover of the blackouts. Deftly avoided saying if they were in the Blitz club but did mention Steve, Rusty, Julia. Imagined it was a song the Stones might do/was in that style.

No ‘current’ plans to perform Nonetheless with an orchestra - but things can change. And then Neil said something about having a clear diary in July.
In print that sounds more encouraging than it sounded in person (and it was my question).
Also the last bit of the album is Neil (multitracked /James Ford’s version of the Neilatron) performing a snippet of Miserere mei, Deus, by Allegri. He said there is a much longer version that might come out at some point.

Re: Miserere Mei - Just heard the album fully again since Monday and that last part of Love is the law was exactly what I thought. Great to have it confirmed.G_Goalden wrote: Sat 27 Apr 2024, 12:48 pm No ‘current’ plans to perform Nonetheless with an orchestra - but things can change. Thanks for asking that question about a Nonetheless Concert! Would be great, wouldn't it?G_Goalden wrote: Sat 27 Apr 2024, 12:48 pm No ‘current’ plans to perform Nonetheless with an orchestra - but things can change. And then Neil said something about having a clear diary in July.

Neil gets very emotional in 'public' recently. In some way that adds depth to his persona and songs. And It's quite touching.
