Tinnitusism

#1 Post by mole973102 »

Had my Menieres(?) progress at the start of this year. Hearing loss in left and it squelches a lot of late, especially when I raise my eyebrows etc. Suspect pressure or issue with the Eustachian tube. Anyone else have similar delights? ENT is currently looking into this and awaiting results on a CT Scan. I don't think it is the inner-ear bones though as hearing some sounds have fluctuated on occasions. But generally, sound is now poorer in left.

My brother has it too. He gets a full ear from time to time. Hoping a shunt will equal the pressure/release any liquid and even if there is some hearing loss, the squelching when I move my ear, will go. I currently have like a washing machine of wooshy-wooshy-wooshy going on. My beautiful launderette!

The old noise was easier to switch off. Sometimes it whistles, first thing. Think StevePSB has it too?
Anyone found a solution? KDX 125 works quite well. In fact Pets music generally helps when in headphones, but my ear can feel odd still afterwards. Bloating feel is horrid.
You gotta have fun!

Mine is always the same and is almost certainly cancer treatment related as they warn that chemotherapy can cause it. If I'm honest most of the time I just automatically tune it out, but when you are aware of it (as I am now - a constant very high pitched scream) it becomes annoying!

Having lived close to a railway line I find it a bit like that. Most of the time you don't notice the noise even though it's there. When it's bad though (usually worse with a headache) it's impossible to ignore.

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice, especially as yours is obviously a different kind to mine.

Since around the end of November 2023 I have lost some hearing and been getting a more full ear, like the tube is blocked and it cannot clear. This is worse than the tinnitus. Hopefully, eventually the ENT will come back to me with the results of my CT Scan and offer to stick a shunt in it (which I think I'll try). I think there is a sinus/teeth connection.

Sometimes the tinnitus is more annoying and I can hear better and then other times I cannot hear so well with my left, but it's quieter. Today is more like the latter, but it feels uncomfortable. In some ways, I prefer the tinnitus.

Just was thinking, I remember us talking about Neil's 50th in this forum. I am now 51. Life is relatively short. It could be worse... My friend's daughter has terminal cancer. Constant tests in life, which seem to get harder as you get older.

Hope you are okay @StevePSB. I've just had a hernia repair - rather have that.
You gotta have fun!

There *could* be songs such as Whistling, My Ear is Whistling, Shouting in the Evening, I don't know what you said, but I cannot hear it any more, Heard, It's Only the Wind.

PSB were in concert at the Savoy at the time I was discharged from cancer treatment so I'd *hope* that means it's not coming back now! I have had and will contiune to have challenges because of the treatment received at the time, not least the £15K piece of titanium in my left leg!

Yes, time is fleeting and the older you get the more you come to realise that. I suppose you have to make the best of the time you have, even if that sometimes seems very difficult!
