Electronic - Get the message / The best of
Seems like Electronic's best of will be re-released on vinyl in september. Spotted it on the renown czech music record site.

Re: Electronic - Get the message / The best of
A messy, incomplete and inconsistent "best Of"
is is and isnt isnt
Re: Electronic - Get the message / The best of
It's got some b-sides and stuff so I guees it's Bernard's and Johnny's perspective of "best of".
The bonus CD is quite ok although many of the tracks were on the bonus CD of the reissue of their first album. I'm disappointed (!) that the new version of Idiot Country II lacks the movie sample in the beginning, it ruins the mood and the mix.

Somehow Electronic's output doesn't work in a context of a Best of. Their albums had three completely different vibes. I love them all but mixing the songs together doesn't work.

I'd rank the albums like this:
1. Raise The Pressure (took me years to understand it, and how to listen to it, but when I finally did, it became a masterpiece)
2. Electronic
3. Twisted Tenderness (it's a great album but there is something missing, I guess it's the production, they don't go far enough with the good melodies and bridges, cut them short)

Greetings,
Retro.
I agree with this, which is probably why despite having the albums and several of their singles, the compilation has never really interested me. I've also found their choice of singles after Disappointed to be a tad disappointing too.telys wrote: Wed 10 Jan 2024, 12:33 pm Somehow Electronic's output doesn't work in a context of a Best of. I gave TT another go recently. Nope, still devoid of any hooks or melodies. The sound of a band who'd ran out of ideas.
is is and isnt isnt

I love 'Twisted Tenderness' from start to finish. Yes, it's not like their other albums and I can take or leave most rock (mostly leave, if I'm honest), but this is still one I love.

I'd like to see an album of bsides from RTP and TT . Those songs were mostly really good.

There's actually enough b-sides for another full Electronic album. Perhaps even two if one stretches it a bit an includes 2-3 mixes/alternative takes.StevePSB wrote: Mon 15 Jan 2024, 8:21 pm I love 'Twisted Tenderness' from start to finish. Johnny says in the linear notes that they did 30 tracks for Raise The Pressure. With the b-sides + the album I only count 18 songs so there could be another dozen songs in the vaults.
